Cafe Review â Hydra, Greece
We visited this cafe on the stunning island of Hydra, drawn in by its size and available seating. The space is larger than most other cafes nearby, which likely explains the availability â but unfortunately, itâs staffed with the same number of waiters you'd expect in a much smaller place, which affects the service.
When we sat down, we were ready to order both food and drinks, but the server only took our drink orders and walked away before we could ask for food. That set the tone for the rest of the experience.
I ordered fruit and yogurt with nuts without honey, and requested the same for my wife. Both dishes came with honey anyway. On a more positive note, the club sandwich was very good, served with fresh chips, and the Caesar salad was also excellent. Coffees were enjoyable, but the strawberry smoothie tasted artificial â likely made from powder with just a hint of real fruit.
Service was impersonal at best. When drinks arrived, the server simply placed them on the table and slid them toward us without a word. It wasnât rude, exactly, but it definitely lacked warmth or attentiveness. That kind of service is a letdown, especially in Hydra, where hospitality is usually exceptional.
Overall, the food quality was decent, but the service needs significant improvement â clearer communication, better attention to orders, and a bit more friendliness would...

Read moreGrumpy waiter and bad snacks. We were looking for a nice place to have a after beach/pre dinner beer with snack. We ordered a 'beer mix', fries and tzatsiki. The beer mix was supposed to be a cheese, salad and meat platter. It had those ingredients, but it was horrible. The meat was the cheap and disgusting cooked ham (we fed it to the cats), the cheese was same, literally pre cut cheese from the store). It was overal onacceptable to ask money for a plate that is precut slices from a minimarket.. Somehow they also managed to ruin the fries.. they were weakly fried and felt almost uncooked and too much oil. The tzatsiki was ok, but no more than that. The only thing they couldn't completely ruin was the view and the beer. In conclusion, do not ever order...
