Dinner & Cruise Budapest — Attraction in Budapest

My family went on the Christmas Day Buffet Dinner & Folk Music Cruise and were extremely disappointed with our experience. This experience began with waiting in the freezing cold for almost half an hour just to get on the boat itself.

Once on the boat, we were incredibly disappointed to find that the food had run out when we went for our main course. When the buffet was “refilled”, only a plate of food was added to the dish. This meant that people needed to go to the other end of the boat, where the food seemed to be being refilled.

Furthermore, we had specifically chosen this tour for the folk music, which was advertised as being a group of musicians. However, we had only one performer in our area but noted that there seemed to be a group of folk musicians interacting with the diners at the other end of the boat.

The difference in service and experience between our area and that on the other end of the boat made us feel as though we had been seated in the cheap seats, even though this was not what we had paid for. On complaining to Budapest River Cruises they gave us an "apology" which seem to have an excuse for all the above concerns we had brought up.

The cruise itself was lovely, the atmosphere nice. The music was fabulous, but the music and dancers faced one way the whole time which was away from us, until of course they came to the table begging for tips which was uncomfortable. The food not the best, it tasted microwaved. The glare of the lights made it impossible to take photos out of the windows. I did however realise later you could go out the back, and the view from here was amazing. All in all it was a good experience, although having done it I would just do a normal river tour again. We had Dinner & Cruise session. Food is considered acceptable with variety of pork, chicken & vegetables dishes. Very tasty Hungarian Goulash. Dessert is so-so. The package comes with one welcome drink ( sparkling wine or juice), one house wine of your choice, and one bottle of water. The view is great as you can enjoy Danube River from the upper deck. Some thoughts for improvement : I would expect a better arrangement to the dock, considering the price we paid for the package. (it is more than 15 mins walk from the meeting point).
