Highly recommended!
The apartments are in a great location, close to everything you need, though nothing is really far away!
For me this type of accomodation is preferable to a hotel as you have the privacy and can do things on your own schedules, and have facilities to get groceries and not have to eat/drink out all the time.
There is a supermarket is about a 25min walk away and is it open later than other ones so this was perfect for when I arrived.
The facilities in the apartment are all in good condition and I didn't have any problems with anything in the apartment when I was here. Plenty of towels, toilet roll, areas to store suitcase, clothes etc.
Communal areas were clean and tidy, the key code was provided when it said it would be, and the controls easy to use. There was a guide in the room with helpful advice and explaining oven, air vents etc
Tv had netflix and access to some other apps - so even though in Iceland you're not hanging out in your room all the time, there is always the option of something to watch if needed.
The host, Gunny, was very responsive to messages, very helpful in the lead up to the trip, and throughout when I needed help and advice for various things. Nothing was too much trouble! It was much appreciated
I had a car for part of my trip and was able to park at the apartments each time I needed.
Others have mentioned non-opening windows - in my apartment there were small windows you could open for ventilation so this seems to vary by property.
Just an advisement that the apartments are on a hill, so if this is a challenge for you to walk up, plan accordingly. It was a good hamstring workout :-)
No accomodation is 'cheap' in Iceland - but feel K16 offers good price for what it offers and had everything I need when I stay in Iceland and would happily stay again and recommend to...
Read moreI’m so disappointed based off the reviews I had read before staying here. It was absolutely disgusting. When I first walked in, I noticed the throw pillows and decorative blanket were not on the bed. I didn’t think anything of that at first, but later realized that was the start of lazy cleaning. I went to go unpack our food and check out the kitchen. The handles to all the cabinets were covered in grease. When I looked in the utensils drawer, it had dirt and crumbs in it. The utensils were also greasy. The oven had not been wiped down. I knew I had to sleep there and couldn’t bring myself to look further because of how uncomfortable I already was. We had gone to the store to cook but did not feel comfortable cooking in the kitchen so ended up eating out. The bathroom had grime in the corners of the shower. It’s a blessing we were only staying here one night. We stayed out of the hotel for as long as possible but when we eventually came back and just wanted to watch a show, the tv didn’t work. My husband and I both work in nightly rentals and if we were inspecting this room, we would have sent the housekeepers back and asked what made them think this was acceptable to let...
Read moreCheck in and check out were smooth. A code will be sent for the former which you have to key in the main entrance's and the room's keypads.
There was a designated outside parking space for guests, so this was not a problem. It's also situated in the heart of the (beautiful) town so there were a lot of restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations (with EV chargers), and gift shops within the vicinity.
Our room was spacious for four people. It was clean and new (which I really loved!). It also has everything you might need - cooking utensils and supplies (cooking oil), bathroom supplies (extra body wash, extra hand soap, but no shampoo), and a hair dryer. We cooked multiple times and the utensils and pots were adequate.
I also appreciate that they have a common room for laundry which has a washer, a dryer, and steamer + flat iron, free of charge.
Would stay here again! Highly...
