Ice Apartments Akureyri — Hotel in Akureyrarbær

The apartments are located out the back of a cafe and the area you have to pull your gear through is covered in rubbish. The parking is difficult on a street on other side of cafe. You have to cart your gear back and forward. The apartments stated there was a washing machine. We arrived soaking wet off the puffin tour boat with a week off washing to do knowing there was a washing machine here. We walk into the apartment and there is a sign on the washing machine saying ‘don’t use it’s broken.’ It’s freezing cold. We have to pay a very large roaming phone call to contact the owners who tell us to talk to a shed outside a backpackers to do our washing. We have to this in the cold with wet shoes. The place they told us to do our washing is extremely expensive like isk35000! We have emailed them, they don’t reply. There’s no offer to pay this or any type of refund. They did not tell us the washing machine is broken before we arrived. It ruined our evening standing in a shed in the cold next to a washing machine down the road at a backpackers when we are exhausted and need dinner. They do not reply at all to any communication. We got upgraded to a bigger apartment. thanks to Stanley and team of Ice. We checked in at the Iceware store. A beautiful apartment well equipped for those who wish to cook and short stay while in Akureyri. A Clean and quiet place. Airport is less than 10 mins from the apartment and taxi cost about ISK 2000. ||||Stanley the manager is friendly and helped with tours, skiing. My hiking shoes sole gave away and thanks to the guide from Stanley, manage to get it to a cobbler nearby and have it fixed before my trip to Lake Myvatin the next day. The only thing that did not work for us in the apartment is the dryer. It is a 2 in 1 washing cum dryer machine. While there were an instruction booklet but it was complicated. Perhaps some simple steps to help users.||||Thanks you Stanley we had a fun time during the stay including skiing and appreciate you and teams’s hospitality. Highly recommended...
