My wife and I really enjoyed this small cafe for a quiet dinner. It was not busy when we arrived at 7:15 pm but I imagine it would be busier in the morning for coffee and pastries, and in the afternoon for a break. The young lady who waited on us was very friendly and spoke beautiful English, quick to answer our questions and handled our order with aplomb. The place looks very nice and cozy, and the cakes very attractive that’s why I decided to try the chocolate cake for 1120isk but it was a complete disappointment, dry cake and I could not even feel the chocolate cause the filling had no chocolate, I think it was some kind of icing sugar with cocoa powder…the cake was looking very nice but the taste was really bad and for what you pay I expect something reality good. An amazing and cozy place in the city centre of Akureyri to have breakfast, to grab something healthy and home-made for lunch or for a warm break in the afternoon. It takes his name from the well-known "barnabók" - icelandic children book - named "Blaá Kannan", which means "The blue kettle". Interesting and of course original reference.
