I had to go to Ubud for my job. As I'm unfamiliar with the area, I have no idea where to go for a spa. A coworker suggested his family's spa. I was skeptical at first since he seems like a man who didn't frequent a spa parlour, but I decided to trust him. My first visit to book my appointment settles my doubt. I usually hate places with many different scents mixed up together like a parfume shop, but Jaens managed to smell A LOT yet polite enough that my nose didn't feel abused. I booked my appointment with a very nice lady at the reception desk. She patiently waits for my indecisive ass to finish reading the menu and gives helpful recommendation. I got the 3.5 Hours Relaxation Spa Package and here are my opinions: I love how they give out a form to fill out before our treatment and the therapist seems to actually follow it. But I regret for being too engrosed in filling out the form that I completely forgot to drink my welcome drink; It was surprisingly wide inside and the decor will definitely satisfy your instagram account. Some trips are accompanied by a therapist, but some are not so the lack of directional signs is a challenge for my poor memory; I love the massage bed. Well, the pillow. There's a pillow to put our face on, shaped like a mishapen donut or a very small neck pillow. It was smaller than what I usually get but it really helps support my face. Usually my nose get congested while laying on my stomach, but this time I can actually breathe!; My biggest regret in this spa journey is the fact that the body massage is only 90 minutes long. I wish I can bring my therapist, Ariani, back home. She hits all the right tension and strained muscles. Usually some part of a massage session will be a little painful and makes me too tensed to relax, but in her hand, the only reason I keep waking up is from my own snores; The facial is nothing special. It's mostly light face massage and face mask. There's none of that torture called comedo extraction. It's perfect to continue sleeping after my massage though the air conditioned room had stiffen my muscles again. Which makes me craves more massage. Is this how they entice a loyal customer? Hmmm; After the massage and facial, comes the hair creambath. No, I don't shower after my massage. They do offer the option, even provided a shower cubicle in the room, but I'm lazy and choose only a warm towel to wipe my body down; Anyway, hair creambath. There's no styling so be ready to go out in your natural hair. Or prepare a scrunchie like me if your hair tend to cosplay the mane of a male lion. The hair washing chair is comfy and fun; The joy of being an office worker is of course a tennis elbow. Swi, my hair therapist(?) managed to massage all the right tendons, muscles, I have no idea, just that my hands feels good while my head is being steamed. The head massage is divine. It's hard enough to feel like my skull cracked open yet it actually didn't hurt my scalp. I want to kidnap her too along with Ariani; One complaint I have is not the fact that the changing room is the toilet at the salon part of the spa, but the fact that there's no wall hooks or a table to put my clothes. Or was I supposed to bring all my belongings which were kept in a rattan box into the toilet? No, I'm too lazy. Please put a wall hook; I love the ginger tea. It was not cloyingly sweet but also not bland and watery. It came in a big mug which satisfy my thirsty throat after a mimir. There's an option to get a chicken salad(?) Or a fruit salad with ice cream. Of course I got the ice cream. I mean, fruit salad. I savor my very healthy fruit salad in a nice longue with plush sofa. More ginger tea is also served which warrant a second visit to the clean toilet. I love how spacious the toilets are.
Overall, my verdict is "definitely will return". I would even be a loyal customer if only Jaens is not only open in Ubud which is way too far from Denpasar. So yes, I'll definitely be back if I ever get a chance to...
Read moreLast week I went to Jaens Spa in Ubud with my husband. He had a 60-minute foot massage while I opted for a 60-minute body scrub. We managed to get the last appointment of the day at 7:45 PM, just before closing time. Booking was easy, and we arrived about 10 minutes early. The receptionist was friendly and asked us to sit down, gave us a welcome drink while we filled out consultation forms.
The receptionist listened attentively to our needs and made us feel well taken care of. My husband had his treatment downstairs near the lobby, and I was taken upstairs to the treatment room. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. The water heater was broken, so my planned bubble bath couldn't happen as expected. My therapist had to manually heat water on a stove, and by the time I got into the tub, it was warm but quickly turned cold, so I only had 5mins of soak instead of 15mins. I had to rinse with cold water, which wasn't pleasant at all. There was also noisy live music next door that clashed with the spa's ambiance. They offered me headphones, but it was uncomfortable lying down with them on.
I shared my feedback with the reception after the treatment, and they apologized and handled it professionally. I hope the management takes note of these issues and improves the soundproofing and fixes the water heater to avoid future inconveniences. Despite these setbacks, the staff were friendly throughout, and I appreciated...
Read moreI saw this place on Instagram and was able to book the day before, but I highly recommend booking in advance. I did the Radja Jaens Spa Package (5.15 hours), and it was an incredible treatment. It started with a complimentary drink, a delicious tea, and the ability to choose oils and scents for my treatment. I really appreciated their attention to detail, from capturing my preferred senses to the desired pressure and specific areas to focus on or avoid. Thank you, Julia, for starting my experience with such care and ensuring I was happy with my choices before the treatment. The spa was extremely clean, and the service was exceptional. I want to specifically call out Jati, my masseuse, who provided incredible care throughout the entire treatment, checking in on pressure, temperature, and overall comfort. As part of the package, I also received a choice of salad or fresh fruit with ice cream, and the fresh fruit did not disappoint. The honey and lemon tea was also incredible. Overall, if you're looking to treat yourself, this is the place to go. You won't be disappointed. And as an added bonus, I was excited to take home the scent used during...
