There were a lot of people waiting for the green light at the traffic light. When it turned green, many would cross the zebra crossing while their friends were taking the best shot for him/her with Mount fuji as the background.
Unfortunately, the traffic wardens were quite rude. They don't even allow to pause for 1 second at the zebra crossing. We understood their good intentions for our safety. As long as the patrons did not react dangerously on the road diring red light, it should be ok, in ky opinion, pausing 1 second during green light was no harm at all because it was the pedestrian rights during the short green light period. You can tell the locals have to put up with a bunch of mischievous tourists not following the traffic laws to get the IG-perfect shot, because when I went there were traffic guards policing the streets having to tell folks not to stop in the middle of the road just to block traffic with their narcissistic poses to post on their socials later. Recommend following the locals and lining up on the side of the road where they can get a good shot of Fuji on a good day. And please don't go overboard with the IG poses, you'll just appear to be obnoxious. Get the pic...
