Traveled here for the first time from Osaka Station by Thunderbird Limited Express and was impressed to see the fusion of modern architecture and traditional art at Kanazawa Station. The front of the East Exit of the station stands out due to the large red wooden gate, called Tsuzumimon Gate. Its unique structure is inspired by traditional Japanese drums, “tsuzumi”. This is where old tradition meets contemporary architecture as one passes through the gate and enters the modern Motenashi Dome (“Motenashi” meaning “Welcome” in Japanese). Advice for people planning to travel with the night bus: Check the departure location of your night bus beforehand. My night bus departed from the Kanazawa Station West Square, which is on the opposite side of the Tsuzumi-mon Gate, right outside of the station building. You will find a round bus terminal, with each bus stop numbered, covered under a roof.

How pretty is this train station!?!😍🥰 Before you head out to explore Kanazawa, head over to the information desk and purchase your Day Pass (or Night Pass or both if you plan on doing both... day pass is void after 5pm) and save you some yen! Lots of great food to eat inside the station, great omiyage to choose from, and there even day hotel. Two separate areas of storage lockers, but they fill up quick, so hurry! Oh and go find the masuzushi, one of Toyama prefecture's most prominent regional specialities. While a bit weary about what I would find (and smell) after peeling back the layers of bamboo leaves, I was pleasantly surprised. Not fishy at all. And I found it to be quite tasty! I could have easily opened this bad boy up in the train and not have worried about bothering people's noses. Probably one of my favorite train stations in Japan.

Very impressive huge station with well thought design and architectural structure. Like all Japanese stations, signage and information On dashboards are everywhere to assist you. Look for the station attendant if you need assistance on the the train or information the right platform. They are very friendly and helpful. You can find most shops selling specialty goods and souvenirs in the station. There is a convenient store right at the end if you need to get bottle of mineral water or coffee. Two malls are located at the station. You can find gourmet food and souvenirs at 100 Bangai and fashion boutiques and clothing brands shopping at Rinto. You can grab a quick bite inside the station. There are many restaurants offering local Japanese cuisines.

I can say, one of the most beautiful train station in Japan. The stunning blend of modern and japanese tradition architecture seemingly obvious when you look at the iconicTsuzumi-mon gate in front of the station. Don't missed to to snap photos at night time as well. Its aeathetically impressive. There are shops, dining options, nearby hotels, cafe, lockers close to the station. It connects to the city of Fukui, Toyama and nearby towns within Ishikawa. Also bus that connect to nearest airport Komatsu. Highly recommend to eat Ramen Taiga and Tomoshibi walking distance to Kanazawa Station 😊

Kanazawa Station is an absolute delight. Its modern architecture seamlessly blends with traditional Japanese design elements, creating a truly unique atmosphere. The station is well-organized, making navigation a breeze. The shopping mall inside offers a wide variety of stores and restaurants, perfect for indulging in some retail therapy or grabbing a bite to eat. The transportation facilities are top-notch, with efficient train and bus connections to various destinations. Overall, Kanazawa Station is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the charming city of Kanazawa.

Seriously - if you're not aware of it, train stations in Japan are actually the inverse of the ones in most of the rest of the world. The food in the train station is *excellent*, the places are *clean*, and you can always find a toilet (and that is A Good Thing). What makes *this* place unique? There is an awesome "water clock" outside, the wooden archway is brilliant, and the "food court" has any amount of excellent local ishikawa/kanazawa stuff available. Awesomeness!!!
