説明版：京都市武道センター　Kyoto　City　Budo　Center 武道センターは、古い伝統を現在に生かす総合武道場として昭和62年に完成したものです。中心施設である旧武徳殿は、平安遷都1100年記念事業として、明治32年に全国有志の浄財により建立されたわが国最古の演舞場で、昭和58年に京都市指定有形文化財に指定されています。

京都市武道センターは桜馬場通の北は丸太町、南は冷泉通にまたがる広大な施設です。赤枠が京都市武道センターです。東が平安神宮です。

平安京と武徳殿 平安京大内裏にあった建物のひとつに禁裏の道場がありました。 桓武天皇はこの道場で武技を奨励していたともいわれており、宮中で競馬や騎射などを展覧する場として利用されていました。 この平安時代の道場は大内裏の太極殿の北西、宴の松原に隣接したところに建てられていました。 そして現在の武徳殿も太極殿を模した平安神宮の北西に位置しています。 このような故事に倣いながら武道の振興・発展を願う思いが、武徳殿の建設に込められていたのです。（出典：京都府剣道連盟HP） Explanation: Kyoto City Budo Center The Budo Center was completed in 1987 as a comprehensive martial arts center that brings ancient traditions to the present. The central facility, the Former Butokuden, is the oldest dance hall in Japan, built in 1899 with donations from volunteers from all over the country as a commemorative project for the 1,100th anniversary of the transfer of the capital to Heian. It was designated a tangible cultural property by Kyoto City in 1983.

The Kyoto City Budo Center is a vast facility that stretches from Marutamachi to the north of Sakurababa-dori to Reizei-dori to the south. The Kyoto City Budo Center is framed in red. To the east is Heian Shrine.

Heian-kyo and the Butokuden One of the buildings in the Heian-kyo Imperial Palace was a dojo for the Imperial Court. It is said that Emperor Kanmu encouraged martial arts at this dojo, and it was used as a place to exhibit horse racing and horse archery at the Imperial Court. This Heian period dojo was built northwest of the Taikyokuden in the Imperial Palace, adjacent to Banquet Pine Grove. The current Butokuden is also located northwest of Heian Shrine, and is modelled on the Taikyokuden. The Kyoto Budo Centre is an impressive site and is used to host a variety of sporting events and classes, more notably Budo (Martial Arts). Regular features here are Aikido and Kendo. The staff at the front office are very friendly and usually accommodate curious minds to come in and have a very short look if any classes are going on. Highly recommended for it's close proximity to the famous Heian Jingu...

I'm so disappointed. The unpleasant reception. The young man did not even want us to take a photo of the center OUTSIDE. I wish him the same welcome in Europe when he comes. So condescendant and unfriendly ! This man thinks he is the supreme master. What a pity !...
