I paid for my daughters room who was on a school trip to Japan. She complained the rooms were tight despite the reviews mentioning spacious rooms. ||||As for me, I first went to MONday hotel to get my laptop, cause my daughter accidentally brought it. Front desk allowed me up to get it with assistance. Just thought it was odd they didnt ask for any ID. I had full access to the room. ||||My daughters final night there I had to get our suitacse from her (to transfer to my place) as she wouldnt be able to bring it everywhere the next day on her final field trip. We agreed to meet 930pm at MONday hotel. I messaged her that I'm heading over and waited for confirmation. By 11pm she still hadnt replied so I walked over.||||The male front desk night staff was already unpleasant to the people before me (as well as to another parent which I found out the next day). When I asked if I may call my daughters room he gave me a dry "no". I said "Oh, is there no phone?" "No". I responded "Ah, ok, can someone assist me up then?" He said "No, not allowed". I said "Oh? It was the other day... Well, it's ok, can anybody please go up then and let her know I am here? And to check she is ok, cause I am getting worried as she hasn't responded for over an hour. She is only 15yo and there is no adult in her room". He coldly said "No, she needs to come down". I explained that is the issue, I havent heard from her, shes not answering, I just need to know she is ok. He said "No, you call, she goes down or you wait". I explained I am her mother, showed my ID and hers as well and explained again I just need to know shes ok, so instead of going over what we can't do, can you please help or inform me what we can do? How else can I confirm she is safe? He checked my last name and questioned my relationship and gave me a judgy look when I said I am not married anymore, but my last name is on my daughters passport and I have her brith cert... He still insisted "No" in a now arrogant tone. I asked who will be liable or help if something is wrong or if she is incapable of coming down by herself? He got annoyed and said "No, she must come down, we will not help, we do not help you"..I emphasized "Are you serious? If she is physically hurt and incapable of coming down and in need of medical assistance you will NOT help my child!? He confirned that they will NOT help. She needs to come down herself.||||Naturally this cold response worried me more. I was shocked as well at how instead of him trying to mend the situation, HE escalated the situation by getting more arrigant, impatient and cold. Absolute zero hospitality in him whatsoever!||||After quite a while of increasing agony and aggitation and now being fearful, my daughter finally answered and came down to pick me up so I can get our bag. She said from the elevator "mom, I am here, come with me". He screamed at me "NO YOU STAY HERE!". I didnt want to embarrass or scare her, so I stepped back She panicked and let the door go.||At that point several men were inside with my minor female child. Front desk guy did NOT CARE AT ALL and even angrily told me to leave!! ||||I refused to leave til my daughter's safety was assured. I immediately called and thankfully she was ok. I calmly directed her on the phone what to bring down to keeo her calm, but front desk guy kept interrupting, telling me to leave and go where a bunch if other male guests were making noise. I refused to leave til my daughter brought my things down and I was certain she was back safely in the room as she had confirmed her classmate was already there.||||She finally came down with our things and he even gave me an arrogant stare as I left. My daughter said when she saw him again he tried to manipulate her by trying to convince her he was just following protocol and that I was the one not being understanding. ||||This was the one, single person who was rude, arrogant and completely lacked compassion. Contrary to every person we met the entire Japan trip to several cities where everybody was extremely polite - just like the other front desk personnel on a previous afternoon.||||Regardless of his supposed protocols, I have never in my whole life beem treated so arrogantly and with such disregard and lack of any compassion and empathy by anybody in this...
Read moreThis was my first time visiting Japan, and staying at Hotel Monday Asakusabashi made the experience even more enjoyable. The hotel is just a 5-minute walk from the Asakusabashi train station (and 1 stop from otaku central - Akihabara!), which was a lifesaver in this sweltering summer heat and humidity—walking too far in that weather is no joke!||The staff are multilingual, friendly, and incredibly thoughtful. They offered complimentary cooling towels to help with the heat and made the check-in and check-out process seamless. One especially convenient feature: they partner with a luggage forwarding service—a game changer if you’re trying to travel light between cities. Highly recommend using it if needed!||Amenities-wise, Hotel Monday offers a breakfast buffet (a mix of Japanese and Western options—tasty and satisfying), as well as laundry facilities for a small fee. Everything was clean and easy to use.||I stayed in a standard double room, which was compact but cozy. The bed was very comfortable, and the room was spotless. There was just enough space for me and my 1–2 pieces of luggage. If you’re traveling with someone else or have more bags, I’d suggest upgrading to a deluxe or family room for a bit more comfort.||The bathroom was a highlight! Like many places in Japan, the bidet was next-level—heated seat, front and back wash, privacy sound features… honestly, I need one of these at home lol! And the deep soaking tub was incredible—perfect for unwinding after a long day of exploring.||I truly enjoyed my stay and would definitely recommend Hotel Monday if you’re looking for a clean, comfortable, and well-located place to stay in the Asakusabashi area. Great value and...
