Wat Mai Suwannaphumaham was built in 1796, Wat Mai means New Monastery and was given its present name following restoration undertaken in 1821 by King Manthathourath. The temple is the largest in Luang Prabang and is well worth a visit. A modest 20,000 kip entrance fee is applied (less than 1 US dollar). The five-tiered roof is a wonderful sight to behold, especially from the elevated Thanon Sisavangvong. The cement covered relief on the front facade is covered in black lacquer which was then gilded, is magnificent.

Just off the main road of downtown Luang Prabang, a quaint temple with a lovely collection of Buddha. There was a small fee to enter; however, the couple at the entrance were so friendly and gave me an offering to place at the alter

A typical Buddhist Monastery in Luang Prabang. You do need to buy a ticket to go inside the main temple. In the back, they have a very long and big dragon 🐉 boat ⛵ for display

Another nice Buddhist monastery and temple. One of the many in Luang Prabang but also one of the most important. This time with an entrance fee.

Temple right at the centre of town. Nightly night market along the road beside the temple.
