I rarely write reviews, but this place truly deserves it. My wife and I are passionate foodies—we’ve dined at countless restaurants around the world, exploring various cuisines, from street food gems to fine dining experiences. Just two weeks ago, we visited a two-star Michelin restaurant (Mezzaluna), yet the experience at Lost in Baan was far superior in every way.
Atmosphere
The ambiance is incredibly unique, blending Asian and Laotian influences with a subtle African touch. The bamboo lamps, wall art, and decor create a cozy yet distinctive vibe that makes you feel instantly at home. Unlike many high-end restaurants where the atmosphere can feel stiff and formal, here it’s relaxed, welcoming, and effortlessly cool.
Service
The service was outstanding. The staff was not only friendly but also highly knowledgeable about the menu. Chris, in particular, took amazing care of us—his recommendations were spot on, and he made us feel truly valued as guests.
Food
The food was simply next level. Every dish had its own unique twist, making the dining experience both exciting and memorable. • Starters: We ordered two starters plus an additional one with tofu mousse, shiitake, and tempeh—absolutely delicious! Each bite was packed with flavor, and the balance of textures was impeccable. • Main courses: The buffalo steak with cucumber salad and the turmeric fish were both outstanding. The flavors were bold yet perfectly harmonized, showcasing a level of creativity you rarely find in casual dining spots. • Dessert: A perfect ending to an incredible meal—delicious, well-balanced, and beautifully presented.
Overall Experience
This place is a true hidden gem. Every aspect—food, service, and ambiance—was flawless. We are beyond grateful to have discovered it and will definitely be back to explore more of the menu.
⭐ 5/5 across the board! 📌 Pro tip: Make a reservation! The restaurant is always fully booked, and we were only lucky enough to get a table because of a last-minute cancellation.
Can’t wait...
Read moreIf you don't eat red meat or pork, and of you don't want to spend a ton, there aren't many options for you at this place. I came here because of the good reviews and was tired, so I pushed ahead rather than trying to find another place to eat.
The staff seem pretty good, and the place looks cool, but it's definitely pricey with a limited menu (compared to most other places in LP), and small portions too.
I ordered a couple of things. I liked one of them and tried to like the other... It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't up the standard I expected based on the price and the reviews. To be perfectly honest, the menu seemed a bit pretentious compared to what it delivered.
Also, I'm editing to quickly add that the guy who runs it/owns it is French and has an interesting vibe. No doubt he'll be responding to this review in both a defensive and accusatory way like he has with every single 3 star review on here.
Somehow he doesn't seem to realise that attacking customers who've spent their hard earned money at his restaurant, and have had experiences which were below their expectations, that it gives him/his restaurant a bad look, and it will prevent a lot of potential customers from being willing to take a chance. It also shows that there's no willingness to accept feedback unless it's satisfying...
Read moreIt was my first time to Laos (as my parents are originally from Laos). My boyfriend checked out the reviews and saw the high ratings for this cute little place in Luang Prabang. Definitely, a hidden gem. It was some of the best food I ever ate during our trip to Laos and Thailand. My boyfriend and I are die-hard foodies and love trying new cuisine. We had the Buffalo Tartare, Carbonara and Curry Cheeze Stuffed Pear. The Curry Cheeze Stuffed Pear was such a nice dish, with the creamy richness of the cheese and it being infused with curry. The glaze was magnificent for this dish. By far though, my personal favorite was the Carbonara, YOU MUST GET IT. I'm not even a huge fan of pasta, but the flavors for the dish paired really well. My boyfriend and I were licking our dinner plates by the end of it. It is also a really nice break from the Laos food, I had been eating on this trip. It's not traditional lao food, but more asian fusion. The ambiance and decor is really nice too.
We ate here in April 2023 and i'm writing this review nearly a month later. This meal was unforgettable and the pictures do not do justice. Please give this place a try, you will...
