A Delightful Evening at Classico Restaurant, Museumplein, Amsterdam
Classico, an Italian restaurant located in the heart of Museumplein, Amsterdam, offers an exceptional dining experience that transports you straight to Italy. My recent visit with three friends was nothing short of fantastic. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and professionalism, setting the stage for a memorable evening.
Ambience and Service: The restaurant’s atmosphere is cozy and inviting, with elegant decor that evokes the essence of Italy. The lighting is warm, and the space feels relaxed yet refined, ideal for both intimate dinners and lively gatherings.
The standout of the evening was undoubtedly the service. Our waiter, Jetze, was nothing short of amazing. His professionalism, attentiveness, and enthusiasm truly elevated our experience. From expertly explaining the menu to offering thoughtful recommendations, Jetze’s service went above and beyond. His genuine passion for his role made our night unforgettable, and we can’t thank him enough for making our evening so special.
Cuisine: Classico’s menu showcases the best of traditional Italian cuisine, using fresh, high-quality ingredients. We began with the Carpaccio, which was beautifully tender and perfectly balanced with olive oil and seasoning. For the main course, I chose the Truffle Pasta, which was a decadent highlight of the evening. The pasta was cooked to perfection, and the truffle flavor was rich without being overwhelming. It was a luxurious and satisfying dish.
To conclude, we indulged in the Tiramisu, which was a perfectly light and creamy end to our meal. The balance of flavors was spot on, offering a sweet yet refined finish.
The Owner: The owner of Classico also deserves mention for his warm hospitality, checking in on us throughout the evening and ensuring everything was perfect. His hands-on approach and passion for the restaurant were evident, adding to the overall warmth of our experience.
Conclusion: Classico offers an unforgettable Italian dining experience with delicious food, a warm atmosphere, and exceptional service—especially thanks to Jetze, who truly made our night. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Museumplein or seeking authentic Italian cuisine in Amsterdam. We’re already looking forward to...
Read moreThis was the most embarassing place I have ever been so far and please if you think of going read until the end and read the other recent reviews. I booked a table for four the 30th of December for the new year's eve dinner at 9 p.m.. We were seated after almost half an hour waiting, but considering the day that could be understandable. They almost didn't clean our table but when we moved to another one they cleaned it and for a while no waiter came with the menus. Then a waiter showed up, very confused, he threw 4 menus, 4 napkins and 5 forks on the table of which 4 were for dessert. We call him again and when he finally came back with normal ones we tried to order a bottle of wine but he mumbled he would send someone else. Nobody came in an hour and in the meanwhile we saw 3 people complaining at the counter and one of them gave even the dish back because there was something wrong. But the most disturbing thing was this kid (5 or 6 years old) going back and forth from the counter, trying to climb it with another kid and then serving at the tables, breathing on the food and even touching the food. When I saw that he was touching a tray of starters on the counter I went to talk to the chef and I told him very kindly that the kid was touching the food. He immediately started shouting at me saying "that's not your food, that's food for the child, if it was yours you know what I would do?" And he threw all the food of the tray in the trash. Then he kept shouting "what did you order, this pasta? Or this?(pointing other dishes)" and when I told him that nobody took our order in an hour he stumbled and then started shouting again nonsense, and I tried to ask the waiter what was wrong with him but they ignored me. Anyway I smiled, I said bye and we left with other 2 tables that heard and saw everything. It was like being on an episode of nightmare's kitchen. In this place the dishes are even expensive and the fact that the chef throws a plate like it's nothing shows how much he cares about the craft and about...
Read moreRestaurant Classico serves italian cuisine and wines (no pizza's). It's situated in the South (posh) part of Amsterdam. Although Classico does not fit that bill exactly, prizewise and... well read the rest. THE FOOD: We started with carpaccio's, which seemed to have been pre-made, since they were served within 2 minutes of being ordered and one of the servings had crusty edges. Pointing out that it was not covered well before getting stuck in the fridge. The mains took a normal amount of time before we got served. We had ravioli (spinach ricotta) and orechietta (sausage and mushroom), which seemed to be freshly made and were actually really good. Dessert was sgroppino and a limoncello tiramisu and both were really good. THE SERVICE: The tables are not finished with a table cloth and the cuttlery doesn't match, not even in size. The service by the staff was reasonable and the owner of the place was very amicable and welcoming. Although they did ask us to keep the cuttlery in between courses (which I find not very service oriented). THE PRIZE: The 2 servings of carpaccio, pre made, went for €18,- a pop, which is fine if its amongst the best freshmade carpaccio you ever had, but for pre made, meh level it was too pricey. The mains we had were between €16,- and €22,- and good for the price vs quality. The desserts were around €10,- and €13,-. We both had 1 coke zero. The total bill was (with 10% tip) €110,-
Personally although the main and desserts were good/fine I found it beneath the prizepoint. So I won't visit it...
