Stayed 5 nights. This is an excellent location to base yourself at and my very clean and comfortable room (No.4) has a wonderful view of Dalys Wharf and the bay. Big bathroom with a range of toiletries and a good, easy to use shower. Felicity, the owner, is really helpful and kind and the staff are excellent. Excellent clothes washing and drying facilities available. The room has a kitchen with all you need including fridge and microwave for the delicious NZ pies you can buy at the Akaroa Corner Cafe 3-5 minutes walk away (Tasty breakfasts and coffee here as well). Excellent Museum on main street (Rue Lavaud) and the must see Giant's House (Ceramic sculptures) is 5 mins walk away. Good supermarket and other cafes and shops nearby as well. Other end of the bay will take about 10 minutes walk to the cafe's and eateries there. Information and Post office is just a minute's walk away and you can get Akaroa village Walks and Country Walks there for about $2.50 each. I really enjoyed my stay here at the Criterion Motel and would highly...

Our stay at Akaroa Criterion Motel was outstanding. From arrival Margie was welcoming and accommodating to all our needs. Location of your motel is great and is in within walking distance to all that we wanted to do. Initially we planned only one night but upon arrival extended to two nights so that we were able to truly appreciate your place of paradise. Since our arrival back to Darwin we have both shared with friends and colleagues your beautiful place. We will be sure to come back to take advantage of all you have to offer. Thanks Felicity, Murray and Margie -...

Akaroa is a "quant" little town worth a stop over with fine restaurants, dolphin watching cruise departures...and The Criterion Motel. A three storey building more like a small hotel, with lovely rooms, just off the waterfront and sea view rooms on the top floor. a balcony looking out to the bay & hills, and a large bathroom, kitchenette; in short - comfortable.

Great location in town next to supermarket, restaurants and the feature Ma Maison restaurant. Lovely owners who are there for you. Felicity is an especially caring host.

We...

My family and I (wife and 2-year-old son) stayed at the Akaroa Criterion Motel for two nights, and it was an absolute dream. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the room was clean and cozy, and the location was excellent, offering a beautiful sea view. Additionally, there was a convenience store and a café/bakery just around the corner (I highly recommend buying fresh bread in the morning from A la Baguette). Out of our two-week trip in New Zealand, this was our most memorable stay.

This motel is so lovely. I arranged a late check-in and they were very friendly and accommodating. When I arrived the heat pump was on so the room was lovely and warm. It had a massive bed, a comfortable 2 seater, table and chairs. The room was spacious. The location was 10/10. My room was not a sea view room but I could still see the sea from my balcony. Beautifully clean. Tidy exterior. On site parking. Walk to everything.

This is by far the best motel I ever stayed and it's worth the money. It is not expensive, but the room is very spacious, bed is extremely comfortable, and the view from the balcony is amazingggg!! The ladies at the reception are very friendly 😀 The location is also great - within walking distance to the beach, cafes, restaurants and Stanley park.
