Takapuna Beachside Cinemas — Attraction in Devonport-Takapuna

Very disappointed. I took my Mum as a treat tonight thinking it would be lovely but not many boxes were ticked other than the movie was entertaining and we enjoyed the pizza and the ice creams. The guy who served us was unfriendly, no smile or hello or enjoy your movie or anything. Didn’t tell us what theatre to go in and wasn’t immediately obvious on the ticket (we were first timers), once we did work it out we walked in and another movie was playing, we weren’t told to take a seat until the theatre was ready, weren’t told when to go in, weren’t spoken to about the pizza flavour, couch wasn’t very comfortable and we had cold air blowing on us on a cold night. Pizza arrived but the ice creams didn’t so I had to go out and ask for them and when I said we were told they would be bought in I was told ‘they were slammed’ and was given two ice creams without nuts which is what was included in the deal. There were only 4 left in the freezer so lucky I did go and get them as would likely to have missed out. Also didn’t seem clean at all. I was really looking forward to a boutique movie experience and was totally disappointed. So disappointing. Tried to book tickets this morning and the website was broken. First off, the website wouldn't let me pay for the tickets and when I pressed the 'pay' button the website wouldn't take me to the next page. The tickets then expired and I had to start the process all over again. Low and behold, the website decides to completely break and now it wont even let me select seats for any movies or dates. Tried on three different computers and two phones and had the same problem on all five (!!) devices. I called them three times, no answer. Found out on here though through previous reviews that they don't open until 15 minutes before the first movie. Which is unfortunate as I tried to book at 10am and the first movie today is at 4.45pm.

Looks like I wont be giving Monterey Cinemas my money as this is terrible customer service, website maintenance and poor contact details as I literally could not speak to someone about a) fixing the website and b) booking my...

I went here because it was the only place that was showing the movie I was wanting to watch at a later time. Turns out, I was the only one going to watch this movie at the 7.45pm session 😂. Anyways after all the adds the screen just shuts off, I waited for a bit before letting the guys at the counter know. After a couple of minutes they come back to say theres some kind of issue with the movie (technical) and they wont be showing it 😏. Never have I ever come across that problem before, my first time here at this cinema and this happens 🤷‍♀️. Anyways they did try to refund me my ticket and food I had ordered which I thought was nice, but I told them to just refund my ticket because I was still eating my snacks and drinks. I gave the 3 stars because of the nice gesture of trying to refund me my ticket and food etc. They didnt think to offer me another movie to watch or maybe to come in another day especially seeing as I drove about 40mins to get there.
