I’ve only been riding an MTB for 3 years, and stick to the easier trails, but this was still one of the best things I’ve done in 4 trips to Queenstown now. The tracks are well marked out, and pretty easy to follow, and the green and blue trails should be well within the abilities of most beginner and intermediate riders. Even on a peak Sunday it was still not too busy, and I rarely had to make way for the kids blasting down the trails. The one bottleneck is the gondola. They prioritise the day trippers, meaning the MTB queue was rarely under 20 minutes once you hit the bottom. That last bit down through a construction site is also tricky, and at the top you have to push through walkways and barriers to get to the trails. But this should all be fixed when the new higher capacity gondola is completed this year. I managed 7 rides on my half day 4 hour gondola pass, but you can easily stretch this by making sure your final gondola ride happens just before the expiry, and once you are up you can stay for as long as you want. I took a package deal from Vertigo with the bike, gear and gondola pass and they did...
Read moreLooks like low reviews are being deleted. My husband had been waiting for years to go to the bike park and when we were there it was more than disappointing. We were not told about construction or delays. He got there right in the morning for the first lift and it was 45+ minute wait and then each time after that it was over an hour, sometimes close to an hour and a half. They were letting up non mtbers before mtbers. We were lined up all the way onto the trail. There were almost multiple crashes. When a few of us complained, nothing was done and no one cared to do much. We do know that the person checking tickets and what not can't do much but then even after we were asked to email the company and we were ghosted. Aside from that experience and not getting our monies worth, the bike park was nice and fun, but the delays ruin the experience and don't make it worth the high price.
My advice: call ahead before purchasing your pass to make sure there isn't anything that might delay...
Read moreVery extensive. Lots of different runs. Not being a real down hill guy even the green run was a challenge. The view from the top is spectacular and very steep down the sides of the hill. To me some time to find the start of the trail system. As the season was over I had to ride up the access track which was wide and in good condition. If you are a keen downhiller...
