G Force Paragliding — Attraction in South Island

Oh my GOSH! I leave this review for George, the pro I went with, who was amused at how many times I said Oh My Gosh during the flight, because, it was incredible!!!! I've wanted to go paragliding for ages and decided Queenstown was the place to do it. Listen, I hate flying in airplanes, totally scared of it and yet as soon as we were in the air with the paraglider I was in awe of how natural it felt.

Booking with G-Force was super smooth and easy. Totally happy to answer any random questions you may have. The day started off with the gondola up the mountain, to the G Force office, where we met Damian (my finances guide) who was super friendly ans off we went to catch a Polaris where a quick off-road trip gets you to the top where you take off from.

At the top Damian introduced me to George (my guide). George is awesome. You can tell he loves this and he made me feel super safe at the same time as having a total blast!! We did a bunch of fun turns and such, this my Oh My Gosh remark so many times.

I can't recommend this enough. It was SO cool. Probably the highlight of or Queenstown trip and we are packing a bunch of things in.

Best experience, ever! I admit to being a tiny bit apprehensive on the gondola ride up--questions like "why am I doing this," "will this improve my vacation," and "is this really worth the cost?" kept popping into my mind. Those questions were quite prominent as I waited at the G Force booth to go up the chair lift to the launching area--there were a lot of tourists standing around waiting to go up and it left plenty of time for me to second guess the decision to go paragliding. After my pilot collected me, though, his energy transferred to me, and the adrenaline started to flow on the chair lift. By the time we were ready to launch, I was psyched up and excited to go! It was such an awesome experience--the view of Queenstown was so spectacular and the feeling of slowly sailing down was unlike anything I have ever known. My pilot was so confident and professional, there was zero question of my being safe, and we had some real fun doing wingovers. The paragliding experience I was questioning so much turned out to be THE BEST moment of my entire vacation and I'd do it again in a second. Definitely worth the wait and cost! We traveled to Queenstown on the first week of 2024. We were both new to paragliding, and though we were not super comfortable with heights we decided to give it a shot. We went pretty early on a mildly cloudy day, and were one of the first people to get on the gondola to reach the hilltop. The weather was strongly in our favor, since we were shielded from the sun for the duration of our flight. The launch part of the experience was quite scary since we literally ran off the hilltop and into the sky, but it was really cool from that point onwards. There is not a lot of sudden movement from the moment that you are in the air, and it really feels as though the wind is carrying you around. It’s a great way to catch the gorgeous Queenstown view. Our pilots were fantastic, and we made sure to purchase the photos and videos as well. While the gondola ride to the hilltop is not included in the paragliding experience, you can go back up there to enjoy the view of the town from the viewing platform and can also try out the luge (tickets sold separately) while you are there.
