I was lost very soon after the entry point during the current diversion and got onto mountain bike trails, after some nervous walking, I was able to get off the trail and started to climb off trail (hiking with hands and feets, very steep) before I saw the road where cars can take bikes up. Walked up the roads for a bit until I finally find the trail again. 3.59km up hill with 447m accent and took 54 minutes in the end. Coming down was no problem, 2.67km down and 40 minutes. Have been to luge many times but first time considering the hike as I did the Mt John summit hike well below the recommended time boosted my confidence. I am a jogger with good fitness level. It is a well shaded walk but could be...

A great hike and the views at the top are fantastic but take your time if you’re a beginner. Going up is not difficult but the first third of the climb is steeper and once you’re over the second set of steps there are switchbacks that are pretty easy.

There is a set of 71 steps about halfway then once you’re past the scenic lookout there’s another set of just 19steps before the easiest part of the trail.

For the beginners, If you’re going down, I’d suggest taking (or finding) a big stick for the lower portion. There were some good sticks left at the top of the trail to grab.

You should note that if you’re going to hike up and take the gondola down as a single ride there is no discount to buying...

Great way to walk up to the gondola, through the beautiful trees. Medium to high fitness, steep, and rocky. Instead of the Brecon Street entrance for this hike, if you go onto Cemetery Road, turn right near the middle of the Cemetery, walk across and find the Tiki Trail this way 😀. Brecon Street entrance for this hike has been changed for mountain bikers to access only. There are little orange flags attached to the trees as you hike up the hill. They point you in the right direction, have fun...

A steep and challenging hike at times but definitely worth it with the view and the sense of accomplishment you get. Took us an hour from the bottom to the top to Skyline Gondola. Have a look at the map when you get to it and make sure you dont wander into the mountain biking trails. If it looks smooth and too easy then most likely you’re not on the hiking trail 😅.
