Monument to St John of Nepomuk — Attraction in Wrocław

Monument to St John of Nepomuk at Wroclaw Visited on 26/9/2019

I am a bit surprised to see St John Nepomuk statue to be in Wroclaw. Only a few days ago, our tour group walked on the Charles Bridge in Prague, Czech Republic, our guide told us the story of St John of Nepomuk.

John was the confessor of Queen Sofia of Bohemia. King Wenceslaus was afraid that his wife had a lover. As she was used to confessing to John, King Wenceslaus ordered him to reveal the name of the lover, but he refused to divulge. John was tortured and thrown into the Vltava river at the behest of King.

I soon realise that John of Nepomuk can be found everywhere throughout what was once Bohemia - he was a saint credited with protecting...
