According to the story, a young widow from Bled Castle lost her husband, murdered by robbers. In his memory, she sold all her wealth and ordered a bell for the chapel on the island. But when the bell was being transported, a storm overturned the boat — the boatman drowned, and the bell sank to the bottom of the lake.
