This quaint hotel definitely made it to my list of absolute favorite hotels I’ve ever had the pleasure of being a guest. The home style decor made me never wanting to leave. It had both a romantic rustic feel, along with being a great retreat for families. When we walked into our room for the first time, I turned to my husband and teased, “Let’s stop exploring and just stay here for the rest of our trip.”
There were only 5 rooms arranged on the second floor. Our room no. 2 was right at the top of the stairwell. We walked into a hallway with little closets to our right, which was perfect to keep our dirty hiking shoes. Our room with a cozy queen bed was immediately to the left. A second room with a twin bed was further down the hallway and also to the left. We had a spacious shared rooftop terrace, but it was too cold during our visit to enjoy it. The bathroom was next door to the second room. The features had a cozy home feel. There were light colored wood finishes lining the ceiling and our bed. The walls were decorated with light colored wood, reddish colored bricks, and gray stone slabs. The windows had white and red flowery curtains. The bathroom was covered in tiles with the sinks resting on large gray stone slabs. It had a cozy tasteful atmosphere.
The hotel was conveniently located a 23 minute walk from Lake Bled. It was a three hundred year old farmhouse located in downtown Bled. Bled Castle (17 minute walk), Pustolovski Park Bled (10 minute walk), St. Martin's Parish Church (12 minute walk), and the Church of Sv Marika Bozja (31 minute walk) were all walking distance to the hotel. There was a Hunting Museum 2.8 miles from the hotel. Vintgar Gorge was 3.1 miles away. Pokljuka Gorge was 5.8 miles away. The main amenities included free WiFi, free parking (a huge perk!!), baby cribs (a necessity while traveling with an infant!!), and a bike rental. Breakfast was available on-site for additional charge.
Dinner started at 5 pm, which was awesome while traveling with babies. The dining room had the same home and cozy feeling. We ordered their shrimp pasta, chicken risotto, and a meat sampler. Everything was mouthwatering and delicious. We also ordered Slovenian wine. We ordered the Zanut Cabernet Sauvignon.
Their Old Bled Cellar, just across from the room in the hotel where we ate dinner, offered more than 70 different Slovenian wines. The wine cellar was a perfect place to try a variety of Slovenian wines.
Everyone was friendly and accommodating. It was an all around...
Read moreYou can't go wrong with Lake Bled. It is so beautiful. We decided to stay at this hotel. Not the cheapest but homely and friendly. All rooms are beautifully done. To the small details. Room 1 had an amazing bed. So comfortable. Only needed black out curtains as summer time approaches we get wake very early with daylight. It seems the same around Eastern European Countries we visited this time. On the ground floor they run a famous and very busy restaurant. Again not cheap, but the food is gourmet delights. Slovenian at it's best. Have a look at the menu prices and book early. we decided to stay another night but moved to room 21, in the attic. Very roomy and fabulous views of the mountains one side and the lake with the Church on the island, on the other. More space to move and plenty space to spread suitcases around. Be careful when stepping into the room not to trip on the edge of the bed. The same as you leave and also the steps down are halfway. Don't trip over. Otherwise we loved it. The breakfast is worth signing in for. Moísa took good care of us. So well displayed. A taste from home really. The girls already set up your seats and just help yourself to the best Slovenia can offer. From the hotel it is a 15 min walk to the lake Riverside. Or, feeling adventurous, a 10 min walk to the local bus station to get a bus to half way to the Gorge. Worth seeing, but a long day walk as you walk one way for over an hour and need to walk thru the forest to catch a bus back. Bank to the hotel you find pharmacy, shops, info center, supermarket all nearby. Ah, the attic room have blackout blinds. Loved it. At the hotel our bed did squick a bit, i don't know why. I hope it doesn't keep you wake. Enjoy the Lake and the...
Read morePros: -Location: Only a 5 minute walk to the lake, but away from the “bustle” and noise of the downtown area. -Parking: Free parking with a sufficient number of spaces. -Cleanliness, upkeep & decor: The room & hotel were spotless. Wonderfully maintained and nicely decorated. Our room reminded me of a log cabin feel…very pleasant.
Cons: -Air-conditioning: By American standards, the room was hot (in August). While I turned the A/C on full blast mid-afternoon, even by midnight it didn’t manage to cool the room to below 78-79F. In a cooler month, I expect this would be non issue and the hotel could likely be a 5/5. -Shower: The shower has a handheld nozzle. When inserted into the nozzle holder however, the water sprays past the non-water tight shower doors and soaks the bathroom. While not an issue to use it handheld, a minor point for improvement. Front desk hours: While the front desk has listed hours, personnel were away from the front desk during those hours. I stopped by the front desk at 7:30 PM, and the restaurant staff told me that the front desk closed early for the evening (without a note on the front desk). Not a big deal as an emergency phone number was provided, but service can be sparse.
Overall, a very nice hotel. However the light A/C could be a deal breaker in the warmer months depending on your individual preferences for room...
