I honestly wish I could give 5 stars, as I was so looking forward to eating here based on the reviews; we even drove out of our way to go here on our last day in Slovenia, since they were not open when were in Bled earlier in the week.
My first frustration, which wasn't really worth a whole star, was not being able to call in our order for pick-up; the number listed is actually the cell phone of the owner, and he wasn't on site, so we had to go inside to place our order and wait for them to prepare it. Not the end of the world, but pretty inconvenient as we had a long drive ahead with 2 young children. Since we had to wait anyways, we decided just to eat there.
The place has a nice atmosphere and friendly service, though the tables are very small. They offer Lintvern craft-brew beer from Bohinj. The potato wedges and made-from-scratch burgers (House and Club) were tasty, but since the buns sounded a bit heavy, we decided to order ours with salad. Here was where we ran into the main problem: WAAAY too much dressing on the salad. It was like the amount of dressing you would put on cole slaw, but it was a primarily leafy green salad mixed with shredded cabbage and corn, and the dressing was very creamy and rich, so it was quite overpowering. I was hungry, so I ate it, but I regretted it afterwards as it made me not enjoy the vegan Bled cream cake as much as I probably would have (which was my main reason for wanting to go there in the first place). Vegan chocolate gluten-free cake was apparently nice and not overly sweet.
When I visit Slovenia again, I would definitely give this place another try, but I would either get the burger with a bun or ask for dressing on the side of the salad. Or maybe I would just get a coffee and cream cake and so I can enjoy...
Read moreMy husband, 3 children and I came to have lunch here yesterday. I opted for the house burger which was delicious. Decent size, full of flavour and very filling. My husband had a Humous platter which he liked. Wasn't much on the menu, children didn't like anything on it so not the best place for kids! Wish they had a few more options on the menu, even just a bowl of chips!
Dessert was good we tried a vegan Bled cake which was tasty! Definitely worth trying if you can't have dairy and fancy a slice of Bled cake that is pictured everywhere!
We also tried to ABC and orange juice which was freshly squeezed. It was nice and refreshing!
This place gets a 3 star from me because seating isn't great and place is in need of a revamp!quite outdated and dingy looking. They were also quite slow on taking the order however the food came out quick which was a surprise!
Finally just check the bill before you pay as I was over charged and not given the receipt until after I paid (their system apparently!). Ended up asking for my refund of...
Read moreDuring my three-night stay in Lake Bled, I had the pleasure of visiting Public & Vegan Kitchen multiple times, and each visit was a sheer delight. The staff were incredibly lovely and helpful, making me feel like a cherished guest. The atmosphere was wonderfully inviting, with the sounds of their laughter creating a warm and welcoming vibe. It was easy to join in the jovial atmosphere as I approached.
Now, let's talk about the food. I indulged in their delightful vegan burger one afternoon, followed by scrumptious hummus on another visit. However, the absolute star of the show was their vegan cream cake, which they kindly saved me a slice of after it had run out the previous day. It was a heavenly treat. And I can't forget to mention the amazing chocolate cake, which was simply irresistible. I can only wish there was a place like Public & Vegan Kitchen in my hometown; I'd be a regular customer for sure! This charming eatery left an indelible mark on my Lake...
