I stayed in a twin room at the Marija Lesnik guesthouse whilst in Bled during September 2012.||||As Bled is a small place you would be hard pressed to stay in accommodation that isn't close to the lake and the Marija Lesnik guesthouse is no different being just a quick few minute walk away. The room was of quite a large size and had two twin beds pushed up together, desks on either side of the beds, a wardrobe, a chest of drawers and small table for two by a large window that allows you to catch a glimpse of the castle. The beds themselves were not of the highest quality but i managed to get to sleep okay.||||The important thing to remember when looking for the guesthouse is that it is above a Chinese restaurant. This is important to remember as there is no 'Marija Lesnik' signs anywhere except for a small yellow sign that says 'rooms' in Slovene. Marija seemed to think we should have known where the guesthouse was as soon as we saw the Chinese restaurant. Whilst that is partly true it still couldn't hurt to have a sign outside with the name of the place to make it a bit more obvious.||||The place itself is very small and from what i could see there was a dorm room and two private rooms only. There is a separate toilet and shower/bathtub located on the same corridor as the rooms. Both the toilet and bathroom were clean and perfectly usable.||The kitchen is basic in terms of cooking facilities but there is also a television, a table and a sofa. It also has great views of the castle from the large window.||||There is a computer near the entrance to the property but i'm relatively sure it is still running Windows 95 and it was so slow i gave up on it after a while. The wi-fi in the place is sketchy at best, although this wasn't a problem for me.||||Marija gave us a 10% off card which could be used at a bike and row boat rental service located near the lake as well as at the chinese restaurant downstairs. I am unsure if the company I used for bike/row boat rentals was the same as the one Marija recommended but I did go to the Chinese restaurant and it was a perfectly fine meal if you are on a budget like I was.||||Overall, I chose to stay at Marija Lesnik because the private rooms were slightly cheaper than others in Bled and you pretty much get what you pay for, A basic but perfectly adequate stay which is fine for the few days you need to experience all Bled...
Read moreVery disappointing experience – would never come back, even for free!
Our stay at Lake Bled Central Hotel was unfortunately the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. From the very beginning, we were given a room that had an awful smell and no Wi-Fi connection at all. When we tried to speak to the staff about these issues, they were completely unhelpful, unfriendly, and even rude. One staff member, in particular, was extremely disrespectful, which is shocking considering we came from another country and chose their hotel specifically.
Instead of listening to us, showing some respect, or trying to help in any way, they treated us with arrogance and acted as if we were a burden. I have never in my life encountered hotel staff this rude and unprofessional.
The hotel itself is also completely impractical. There is no elevator – only a very narrow, winding staircase, which made it incredibly hard to carry our suitcases, especially since we were staying for eight days and then traveling to another country. The rooms are tiny, with no mirrors, no desk or table to get ready, and no power outlets near the bed to charge your phone at night. The small closet provided can barely fit anything.
Overall, I truly regret booking this hotel. It was a huge disappointment in every possible way – poor facilities, terrible attitude, and complete lack of basic hospitality. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, and honestly, I wouldn’t stay here again even if it were free. It’s simply...
Read moreFirst impression was good, of the room that is. Nice decoration, nice view. Buuuttt, it’s UNSAFE (read below).
And in the hallway they had a nice smelling scent hanging around, that made me suspicious. Like it was covering up something and it was confirmed by the smell of sewer in the bathroom later on 😖
During the night I heard some noises, and at first couldn’t figure out what it was. But they kept waking me up 😖 Then I found out they were woodworms! Or actually ‘knockers’. That made me even feel unsafe, cause they can eat up a whole building if not taken care of!! I mentioned it to the lady at the reception, she said it was normal and they check it every now and then, really reassuring, NOT!
She wasn’t suitable for the job at all, not service minded, only friendly when expected, weird reactions to some questions 😱 For instance we told her we came directly to them, instead of booking through booking.com, cause we know it costs them a high fee. She didn’t care, ‘Not her problem’! 😳
The positive side to booking here is, it has parking included (and it’s really hard and expensive to park in bled) & a...
