We booked two activities with Altitude Activities when we arrived in Bled. We knew we wanted to explore the Triglav and Soca Valley regions, do some hiking, and give canyoning a try after seeing some crazy pictures and videos online. We're so glad we booked the 7 Alpine Wonders day tour and separate intermediate canyoning with these guys. Our first day we (myself, my wife, and sister) did the canyoning. Our sister was pretty scared and anxious about it all morning and up until the first jump on the excursion, but after that she had a blast. My wife and I did as well course. The guides were so great (we were with Mat primarily but also a couple other guides such as Mitja who we spent the next day with as well). They were all very concerned with our safety and made it a point to cater to the needs and fears of all 23 people in our group. Their instruction on how to slide down certain parts, how to jump, body positions, etc. was great, and their humor and easy-going attitude behind it all was very comforting. The following day we did the day trip. At first, we were hoping for a little more adventure in the sense of physical activity, longer hikes, etc., but in hindsight, after canyoning the day before, we were pretty tired out, so we were glad how relaxing this was. About half of the day was spent in the vans going from place to place. There were 2 hikes/walks that were not much more than 10 minutes each. Aside from that, we drove from place to place, got out for 10 minutes or so to take some pictures, then got back into the van to head off to the next location. We stopped in a town for lunch about midway through the day. We could grab lunch at a place they had reserved, or we could venture off to get our own food or eat something had we packed for ourselves. We chose to eat with the guides, and they offered great recommendations on what to eat and get. We also spent about an hour at a lake/beach for our last stop before heading back to Bled. Our guides (Mitja and Valentina) were super knowledgeable about the places we went, telling us the history, legends, folklore, and fun facts about everything along the way. This day was great to see a lot in one day with several quick stops between van trips, but I think our favorite part was talking to and getting to know our guide Mitja on the journey. He was such a down to earth, relaxed, and friendly person that it made the day...
Read moreMy wife and I joined a tour in Bled through several wonders around the Triglav Mountains. I believe it was called the 7 Alpine Wonders. We had a fantastic time. Our tour guide, Savina (also going by Sava) was very warm, approachable, answered heaps of our questions and was very passionate and knowledgeable about Slovenia and nature. She helped the vanload of tourists in our group connect and made it easy to follow the stories of the places and people we encountered. Of course we took many pictures, and Savina was only happy to share the ones she took with us the next day. I'd give her 6 out of 5 stars if I could. If you do this tour, see if you can get on a tour with her as a guide!
The places we visited were well chosen - there was a waterfall, a stunning viewpoint, a river spring, a lovely lake, and then we were dropped off to try out rafting on the Soca river (our first time). This was an optional activity - other people in our group went to do ziplining.
Our rafting guide, Gabby, was also enthusiastic and supportive as we navigated a challenging activity (for newbies!). It was well orchestrated - a big party on the river with something like ten rafts of people with guides going down the river and learning and having fun.
Savina then picked the vanload of tired and satisfied tourists (us!) after our activity. Unfortunately, my wife and I had to cut the tour over to head to our accommodation (which we had arranged beforehand), but the rest of the tour continued to a few more places and then returned to Bled.
Would I recommend the experience? Absolutely. For a very reasonable price, we got memories, photos, delights, connections, laughter, all surrounded by Slovenian natural beauty. It's really something we will...
Read moreOur recent ascent of Triglav, the highest peak in Slovenia, was an extraordinary adventure that we will cherish forever. The experience was made all the more memorable and enjoyable thanks to our exceptional mountain guide, Franc.
From the very start, Franc’s expertise and professionalism were evident. As first-timers on a Via Ferrata route, we were initially apprehensive. However, Franc’s no-nonsense approach and thorough explanations put us at ease. His clear instructions and demonstrations made the entire journey comfortable and understandable, even for those of us with no prior experience.
The ascent took us around three hours, and Franc’s ability to adjust to our pace was remarkable. He ensured we were safe and confident at every stage of the climb. His guidance was steady and reassuring, allowing us to focus on the breathtaking views and the exhilaration of the climb itself.
Franc’s knowledge of the mountain and his skill in navigating the challenging sections of the route were truly impressive. His calm demeanor and encouraging words kept our spirits high, even when the ascent grew more demanding.
Reaching the summit of Triglav was an awe-inspiring moment, and we owe it to Franc for making it possible. His dedication to our safety and his ability to make the experience accessible and enjoyable were second to none.
We wholeheartedly recommend Franc to anyone considering a climb up Triglav. His guidance made our summit a safe, confident, and unforgettable adventure. Thank you, Franc, for an incredible journey to the top of Slovenia!
