I recently visited Konoba Dario in Maribor, and I must say, it was an exceptional dining experience. This newly renovated gem has beautifully transformed from it’s roots as a beloved traditional Slovenian eatery Pivnica Alf, known to students, into a vibrant haven for Dalmatian seafood cuisine.
The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by the warm and friendly staff who make you feel right at home. The ambience is perfect, often complemented by the the melodic sounds of Dalmatian songs, which transport you straight to the seaside. One standout feature that adds to the cozy and inviting atmosphere is the realistic fireplace simulation. It creates a perfect backdrop for a relaxing meal, especially on cooler evenings.
The menu is seafood lover’s dream, featuring the freshest catch of the season. Each dish is a delightful blend of flavors, beautifuly presented and absolutely delicious. It’s clear that a lot of thought and care goes into preparation of every meal.
One of the highlights is also the delicatessen corner, where you can purchase an array of fine wines and other gourmet goodies to take home. It’s a lovely touch that adds to the experience.

Read moreOne of the best restaurants in Slovenia! The calamari was fresh, tender, and was absolutely delicious, we loved it so much and ended up ordered 2nd one :-). We also ordered squid black ink risotto and sea bass, they are delicious and cooked perfectly, even the veggies were amazingly testy. The waiter Blaz is friendly and knowledgeable about their menu and the history of the restaurant. The chef Dario even stopped by and said hi to us. We enjoyed our dinner so much and cannot wait to come back there again!...
