I am chinese, and I came here occasionally on the weekends. Now they're not as good. Read details below
When I first discovered this place I ordered a milk tea and fruit tea...and that pretty much became my order everytime I go there😂. My first experience was around 2-3 years ago, when they were new and the tea tasted amazing. Furthermore, the cheese tasted super super creamy, just the way anyone would want them.
Then, second time, third time and so forth, they got worse and worse. The tapioca(bubble/boba pearls) tasted mushy and stale and the cheesy cream became yucky. Ordering was a roulette everytime I visit because it's sometimes good(by good I mean just mediocre) and some times bad, but mostly bad.
The tea liquids still taste amazing but the cheese and boba pearls were disgusting and they weren't supposed to be.
Bubble/boba tea enthusiasts, I encourage you to visit "TeAwesome" at Canal Walk. They make spectacular teas and have red bean pastes(a nice option for teas) and they have different sugar levels. Meaning, if you don't like sugar, you'll have that choice...

The V&A Food Market tends to be busy, so it’s not unusual to stand in a queue for a few minutes. The staff at Royaltea were in a great mood despite the busyness and worked quickly to complete our orders.
Although known for tapioca/ bubble tea,🧋 there are a wide range milk, fruit, and speciality teas available.
We ordered a ‘Passion for Grapefruit’ (R55) which was fruity and refreshing and a ‘Uji Matcha Cheese’ (R50) which tastes like cheese cake in a cup! 💥
The ‘Lemon Bomb’ 🍋 (R50) is also delicious!
There are card 💳 and SnapScan payment options available; the Tea-ristas are more than willing to make your order in a reusable cup ♻️ if it’s the right size; and paper straws can be purchased with your order for R1 extra. 🧃
Definitely one of my go-to stalls...
Read moreIf you’re expecting to get a straw with your drink, forget about it! You’ll end up arguing with two imbeciles for 10 minutes because they don’t want to give you a straw. I went there twice and both times they didn’t give me a straw. Bring your own straw because they are too stingy to give you one :(
Update: the owner replied telling me they give straws to everyone that asks... NOT TRUE. Obviously the owner doesn’t know what’s actually happening when he/she is not there. We got no straws even after asking and the people who work there were being very unhappy and not very approachable. So please have a firm chat with your staff. Thank you.
Also, saying that you care about the environment is hilarious coming from you since when one orders on Uber eats you guys wrap each cup in about five meters...
