Extremely disappointing. Regarding Design, the exhibition had a bunch of common items you can find in a drugstore. There was nothing regarding architecture, i'm confused why they even call it an architecture museum. The rest of the exhibition showed pretentious postmodern design, so if you're into that then you might enjoy it. The only interesting thing I found were some time-lapse videos of image editing in photoshop, and i could watch these in youtube, and there's plenty of them. Good thing is that it was free and very small, so I didn't waste money nor too much time with it. (This review is regarding the current exhibition Norm Form, which is up until...

Not free anymore since our government removed funding for free museum entries.

Moderna museet and ArkDes share bulding, but ArkDes is pretty much just two exhibiton rooms.

The main room with Swedish architecture is a bit disorganized, the drawers with materials under the models are not matching and belong to other seemingly random buildings so there is not that much information.

The temporary exhibition room however was very well made (Tham & Videgård) in the pictures below.

I would only recommend it if you are interested in the temporary exhibitons or if you also want to visit Moderna museet at the same time. Or go during friday 18-20...

The "ArkDes" is split in 2 parts: *) Architecture and design *) Modern art

Now the architecture part was interesting. The exhibition showed a collection of minature buildings of sweden. And how the swede started to build homes and how the style changed by time. The objects are accompanied with texts which explain the design, purpose and/or history of the artwork i.e. building. When I went there was a temporary exhibition of some interestingly designed fixtures as well. Rating: 4/5

The modern art part was not really my fetish. I'm either to stupid to understand contemporary art or this was just some junk... Rating:...

Absolutely fascinating experience at ArkDes! The “Designing Motherhood” exhibition was thought-provoking and beautifully curated. It explored the intersection of design, motherhood, and society with honesty and creativity, showcasing everything from historical artifacts to innovative contemporary objects. I appreciated how the exhibition addressed topics that are often overlooked, making space for stories and objects not usually found in museums. It was both emotionally impactful and intellectually stimulating—a must-see for anyone interested in how design shapes our lives. Highly recommend!

It's closed for renovations until June, 2024. I visited in July, 2023; and have been impressed by the models and temporary exhibition displaying various forms of building methods. It also displays the models of some of the iconic and award winning private and commercial buildings around Sweden. An enriching visit overall. Definitely recommended for the architecture lovers. Shall visit once it's open again.
