Visiting Khaosan Road at night was an experience that truly brought the place to life for me. As the sun set, this famous street in Bangkok transformed into a vibrant hub of activity, bursting with energy and excitement. The neon lights flickered to life, illuminating the throngs of tourists who flocked here for the legendary nightlife. The first thing that struck me was the sheer diversity of the crowd. Tourists from all corners of the globe converged here, creating a melting pot of cultures and languages. This cosmopolitan atmosphere added a unique charm to Khaosan Road, making every step an adventure. Street vendors lined the sidewalks, offering a tantalizing array of local delicacies, from savory Pad Thai to exotic insects for the daring foodie. The aroma of sizzling food wafted through the air, mingling with the sounds of live music and the chatter of animated conversations. Bars and clubs spilled out onto the street, their music competing for attention. Whether you prefer the pulsating beats of a nightclub or the laid-back vibes of a reggae bar, Khaosan Road has something for everyone. The nightlife here was electric, with people dancing, singing, and enjoying the carefree atmosphere well into the early hours. Despite the bustling activity, there was an undeniable sense of camaraderie among the visitors. Strangers became friends over shared drinks and spontaneous dance-offs, creating memories that would last a lifetime. If you're as lucky as I was, you might even catch a few street performers entertaining travelers with their impressive acts. After hours of exploring, my feet began to ache from all the walking. Thankfully, I found relief with an outdoor foot massage. Skilled masseuses were ready to ease my tired feet, providing a relaxing respite amidst the lively chaos. Khaosan Road at night is not just a destination; it's an experience. It’s a place where you can lose yourself in the crowd, savor new tastes, and revel in the vibrant nightlife. If you're looking for an unforgettable evening in Bangkok, Khaosan Road is the place to be.

You reach Bangkok and open Google to type : 'what are the top things to do in Bangkok' and it so appears among the top 3 things to do in Bangkok; "Take a walk on the famous Khao San Road". Having done that, I agree that this place has a personality and vibe of its own. It's unlike most other walking streets in Thailand. This place is filled with easy going cafes and restaurants playing music, only for the soul. I don't remember having heard music that was too fast or needed anything more than just grooving. No offense to fast and progressive music. That's what I hear all the time. But you definitely need some music for the soul after all the junk music consumption. I ended up at several stalls, outlets, and also doing some food hopping. Some of these, etched a memory in my heart that I'm going to take back home with me. The massage I had in one of the massage places that was open even by midnight, was by far the best 'back and shoulder' massage I've ever had in Thailand. Then there was a T shirt stall, shown in one of the images that I've uploaded. It had these amazing designs that are a bit abstract and out of the ordinary. Thanks to the T-shirt that I bought from here, I have a piece of Khao San Road that I now can carry around. I am sure that I will be back here for more, at a different time in my life 😊

Below my original review about Khaosan road. The review was quite negative, and that's why I wanted to check if things are like I saw them. So, we made this time an evening trip to Khaosan road to see what it is about; walking and sitting there, and taking some pics. Khaosan road is a place for western tourists. The atmosphere there is far from any hippie culture... or, actually, far from any culture 😂 Visitors are mostly young people, but there are surpringly many older people, too. Looking for their youth? 😄 Local people there are mostly workers; few local visitors are young. And what else? Khaosan road is a bazar with too expensive prices; too many weeds shops; too many restaurants; some massage shops and tattoo studios, two x 7-Eleven. I planned to have fun. There isn't anything fun on Khaosan road. Simply said, Khaosan road is the most stupid place where I have visited in Thailand. To be honest, something positive to mention, too: Vegetarian spring rolls and Thai pad, noddles with eggs, was 70 baht which is not a bad price and food was enough to kill my hunger; a big bottle of beer about 60 baht - in 7-Eleven 🙃 For a weed enthusiast Plantopia is absolutely worth of check. Plantopia collects about 10 weed shops under the same roof, and there in the middle are tables to enjoy your weed. Unluckily, like Khaosan road generally, Plantopia, either, is not cozy at all. --- I wanted to see Khao San Road because of its rumour almost as one of the main attractions in Bangkok. It isn't. We went there purposely in the morning time, 10 am., to see what that road really is. Among thousands of roads and streets of Bangkok, Khao San is or has nothing special, one street among many; there are much more interesting places and roads in Bangkok. There are many bars and kiosks selling cannabis on Khao San Road, which is not a big surprise, either.

Khaosan Road or Khao San Road is a short, 410 m (1,345 ft) long street in central Bangkok, Thailand constructed in 1892 during the reign of Rama V. It is in the Bang Lamphu area of Phra Nakhon District about 1 km (0.62 mi) north of the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew. Khao San Road is the historical center of the tourist area that has developed in the Banglamphu district. Originally catering to backpackers, and described as a backpacker mecca. The word khao san itself means milled rice and is an attribution to the historical role of this street in the rice trade. The first business to open on Khao San Road was a small hotel aimed at serving civil servants from the provinces who came to Bangkok on business. The first commercial guest house, called Bonny, opened in 1982 with six small bedrooms. Today, there's a lot more than six small bedrooms on offer. In the span of just a couple of blocks, there are bars, food stalls, restaurants, convenience stores, pharmacies, internet cafes, money changing booths, ATMs, shoe stores, massage parlours, tailors, travel agencies, laundry, boxing gyms, optometrists, endless warrens of suspiciously discounted designer clothes and, oh, rooms for the night.

It's another one of those "it's good only because it's so bad" kind of situations here in Bangkok. If you're a tourist, you may want to drop by just once; make sure you do it past midnight on a weekend to immerse yourself entirely. Make sure you watch your belongings. From the time I alighted from my cab, I felt the multi-sensory experience while walking down the street. A fine mixture of push cart hawker stalls selling all sort of exotic items, to bars and clubs touting you onto their tables (with balloons in their mouths), and an extremely wide variety of personalities across all age, backgrounds, and genders. The highlight for me was how there were so many tourists climbing at the back of police vehicle that is traveling down the crowded street. I honestly cannot see myself coming back here at all. It's a little too wretched in all honesty.

Not to be missed! I will go back another time to indulge in the drinking vibe, but when we were there on the 19th Sept it did not disappoint. Started with some alligator (overrated) They made sure it was dripping in sauces to mask the tasteless taste. But glad we did it. Plenty of shopping for little niknaks. Tshirts, watches etc. Plenty of Juice places, any types of food, tattoos and of course weed. Although not at bad as Phuket or Sukhumvit 11, there was plenty to be witnessed and smelt. Hopefully the new Thai government will wind some of the weed and cannabis free reign back a little in the coming months. Glad we went, will go back. Must be on your to do list in Thailand. Don't forget to check out near by Thanon Ram Buttri road out. It has a big amount of massage and sit down restaurants to watch the people go by.
