A nice little park. The friendly squirrels eating food out of peoples hands was nice. Was interesting to watch the pecking order of nature. A wood pigeon had a peanut, the duck waddled over and took the peanut off the wood pigeon. The leaping squirrel went up to the duck and took the peanut off the duck. Another observation was how relaxed the wood pigeons were around people. There was a wood pigeon standing just by my feet. I am a country boy, wood pigeons when they see a human fly away. Sometimes i have managed to sneak up on an unsuspecting wood pigeon, getting right close before the little fella flies away as if the Loch Ness Monster has crept up on it, flying off in sheer terror. Wood pigeons however, deserve no sympathy they are very greedy. Many times have i left food for birds, watching them eat the sunflower seeds only for a wood pigeon to waddle up, scare the birds away and eat the whole lot, no wonder they are so fat, if they weren't so greedy they might be skinny.

I gave 5 stars if I could give more I would!!!! This is the best park I have ever visited. Not only does it have beautiful and expansive grounds but its wildlife is also just as beautiful. Feeding the squirrels by hand and its vast array of bird life is just magical so please take nuts and seeds because its worth it. Besides all I have mentioned this park as well as its city has an amazing history and heritage. It has a miniature railway and a great play park for children, plenty of plaques that tell you every part of this parks history its truly an amazing day out at this site with plenty more to offer in its surrounding area. What a gorgeous place to make memories. A must!

They have done a lot of renovation to the Park in light of lottery funding; where locals were a bit concerned incase main features of the Park were affected. However the character of the Park has been maintained. The Park lodge cafe is worth going into-it can get busy at weekends. The Activities hut is a great addition which has led to events being put on in the Park. The pond has been cleaned up a lot. The children's playground is a useful section and can also easily be avoided if that isn't your thing. My only gripe is the grey squirrels- there should be more management of these rodents and I wish visitors wouldn't feed them!

Love this park for one reason, the squirrels..... when we visit Chester,we do a bit of shopping, walk the city walls and hire a rowing boat on the river dee along with teas/coffee's ,ice creams and watching artists play and sing around the beautiful vibrant city.we always finish off with a little picnic feeding the ever so friendly squirrels dotted around the park, they are so gentle and friendly and actually climb on you and feed out of your hand,amazing..... a lovely finale to a lovely day guaranteed. There's toilets and a miniature railway on site too alongside other things too....absolutely love it,well worth a visit....❤

Impressive gardens perfect for a leisurely walk through, seating available and for children (and their parents) a miniature railway is a pleasant offering. Squirrels are plentiful and for the first time we saw members of the public feeding them by hand. Nuts I assume but one young lady was actually stroking the squirrel's back whilst being fed. What with the beautiful weather, and pleasant flowers arrangements, it was a restful couple of hours, but also some picture taking opportunities.

Really nice park between the river Dee and the city, there's a smashing children's train ride and only £2 pp, currently there is an observation fertis wheel 🎡 in the park however this is £20 for a family of 4 or £7 per adult. The park also has a cafe. If you take peanuts in their shells to the park the squirrels will take them from your hand. At the western edge of the park is the church of St John the Baptist which is worth a look as its origins date back to 689AD
