A nice little park. The friendly squirrels eating food out of peoples hands was nice. Was interesting to watch the pecking order of nature. A wood pigeon had a peanut, the duck waddled over and took the peanut off the wood pigeon. The leaping squirrel went up to the duck and took the peanut off the duck. Another observation was how relaxed the wood pigeons were around people. There was a wood pigeon standing just by my feet. I am a country boy, wood pigeons when they see a human fly away. Sometimes i have managed to sneak up on an unsuspecting wood pigeon, getting right close before the little fella flies away as if the Loch Ness Monster has crept up on it, flying off in sheer terror. Wood pigeons however, deserve no sympathy they are very greedy. Many times have i left food for birds, watching them eat the sunflower seeds only for a wood pigeon to waddle up, scare the birds away and eat the whole lot, no wonder they are so fat, if they weren't so greedy they...
Read moreThis is truly a lovely park, very very well maintained and no yobs riding about on clown sized motor bikes! I used to live in Liverpool, as well as Manchester, and I can say with hand on heart if this quality of park existed in those cities, it would be trashed within 48 hours! This park has a mini ride on rail way - kids love it! It has a cracking cafe. Also a brilliant play park. It's also just within a few minutes walk from the city centres - truly a marvel of what can be achieve when the civic planner do their jobs properly and don't cut any corners. On the lower side of the park is the river front with boats to rent, and ducks to feed! Honestly, well done Chester! (That compliment is meant for the civic planners and councils of the 1800s, it most certainly is not meant for the idiots who are in office now - the idiots who removed...
Read moreA very nice well maintained little park. It's in a nice location next to the Riverside with shops not too far away. I found the park quite small compared to some I've been too, but it was good for a short walk around and the various Roman ruins gave the park a bit of character.
At the time of visit there were tents inside being used as an open air theatre, however I did not use this myself. There was also a merry-go-round and small train ride for the kids, however the size of the track was short so the ride was over fairly quickly.
Although there are a couple of multistory carparks in the area, these are mainly there for shopping centres and other shops, so being a new visitor to the area I felt a bit let down by the local Council for NOT providing any large open air carparks dedicated to the use of the park or...
