The hotel is a great central point to enjoy Chester city. It has a very modern feel, and looks quite new.
Park at the shopping center as its only a tennner a day, half the price of the car park opposite.
We booked a standard double room. The room was a very good size, with a shower, a fridge and a large teley. We also booked breakfast, which was a buffet offering cooked and continental.
Then it went wrong for us! We went out and decided to turn in for the night, at 11pm we pulled back the sheets, only to discover the mattress protector was heavily stained with red and yellow stains! (we tried to not imagine what they were!) I contacted reception about the problem, and the manager quickly came to our room and looked at the situation.
The manager agreed this was unacceptable, and she moved us to another room, that was a bigger one with a bath and a shower, but not really any advantage to us.
Skip to the morning of our departure we were looking forward to a nice breakfast, and a last walk around the city.
We went to the breakfast area, only to be told there was no hot food for what ever reason and that we could have continental and half off, or a refund. We took the refund, as 11 quid each for toast and cereal was a bit steep , and we tried to find somewhere in town that did cooked breakfast, but we were unsuccessful, so we left Chester hungry and very disappointed.
Leonardo hotel was a massive disappointment, especially as how supposedly clean it was, (based on reviews) was one of the reasons we picked it. The dirty sheet caused massive anxiety problems with one of us, and soured the stay. Clean sheets I thought, was one of the basics of a hotel. The breakfast being off on our last day, just topped the disaster off!
We carefully chose our break, (being our 1st child free break for 2 years), and we were heart broken it went bad. The staff were very friendly, and allthough we had a small discount and a breakfast refund, we don't go away on a break, just to get money back, the inconvenience, disgust and disappointment that we had. This has really made us decide to never go to a Leonardo / jury inns again,or recommend it to any one!
Pathetic reply off owner/manager via a review I put on a website that 'advises trips, ' saying everything I'd already put in the review, as a response. No way...
Read moreI recently stayed at the Leonardo Hotel in Chester with my family (19–21 June) and regret to say the experience was deeply disappointing due to a serious health and safety concern that was poorly handled by hotel management.||||Prior to my arrival, I specifically requested a room with a walk-in shower due to mobility issues. Only the day before check-in was I informed that this would not be possible, leaving me with no practical alternative but to accept a room with a shower over a bath||Upon arrival, my concerns were confirmed: the bath was high and difficult to access, and there were no grab rails or other safety measures in place. A small sign in the bathroom stated that a bath mat could be provided if necessary, which only reinforced the hotel’s acknowledgement of the risk, while doing nothing to mitigate it by default.||||When I raised this with staff, I was given a bath mat and told I could email the manager directly—which I did. Unfortunately, the reply I received was disappointing. Rather than addressing the clear health and safety implications or offering any form of resolution, the response focused on technicalities (e.g., the room was as booked, the hotel meets audit standards, etc.). There was no apology, no ownership of the problem, and no recognition of how concerning it is to provide inaccessible facilities to guests with mobility needs—particularly after those needs were communicated in advance.||||This isn’t just about a disappointing stay—it’s about guest safety and the lack of adequate options or meaningful engagement when...
Read moreWe stayed here on 30th july until 1st of August for our silver wedding anniversary. On our arrival the staff at reception were accommodating and friendly. We had drinks and lunch in the bar area where we were served by the lovely Mia. Mia was friendly and knowledgeable about chester, giving us advice on surrounding bars and activities. We also seen her at breakfast the next morning and she was just as personable as the day before. Helen the manager seemed very nice. We seen how she treated and praised the staff for their good work that day, you don't see that very often! Our room was beautifully decorated by (I think) Amy? Swan towels, Rose petals on the floor and bed. It was just beautiful! Thank you for that. The place was spotless, shower pressure was good and the breakfast was good. Nice choice of food and drinks. The location is perfect and £10 for 24 hours in the car park we thought was pretty good for a city centre! The star of the show was definitely Mike at the bar. He made us feel very welcome and we ended up having a good laugh with him and chatting in between quiet moments. I think the only thing that let the bar down was there was no music. Just a tv on. Please change that, it would make such a difference! Next time we're in chester, we will be staying here again. Keep up...
