Food is undoubtedly very good. Indian with a twist. Hence why we have returned a few times.
Customer service could improve though. One time was seated at the bar and the person serving us was quite rude. She kept trying to hurry us with the food/bill, was fussy about where we sat e.g. didn’t want us to leave a free seat between my friend and I, and just generally had poor attitude. This was quite off-putting and towards the end, both my friend and I agreed that we were quite disappointed with the service so refused to pay the discretionary service charge. Of course, this got raised with the manager, who then spoke to us and apologised after we explained what we were disappointed about.
Another time I came, it was quite late and the restaurant was only about 40% full yet the attendant told us to sit at the bar. We requested to have a table and she said fine, but to note that it is a sharing table and others could join. We said fine: there were a lot of spare tables and it was unlikely anyone else would join so late. Indeed, as the dinner progressed, the restaurant just got emptier (more tables freed up) and no one joined. Whilst she wasn’t rude about it, we wondered why it was even an issue at all to begin with, as there were so many spare tables.
Also, I would add that whilst the food is excellent with quite varied dishes, I have been a little bit disappointed with the drinks. Too much ice/too little of the actual drink, so you end up paying a lot for a small amount. I would definitely recommend management to look into it as relative to everything else, it felt quite meagre, especially for the price.
Overall, very good restaurant but I hope they can improve on their customer service. Remember that customers have a plethora of choices in Canary Wharf: when they come to your restaurant, they are choosing to spend their money there as opposed to in other places, so should have good...
Read moreThe fusion that caused a lot of confusion for the taste buds! Whilst the sides, starters & the nibbles are great with no complaints about that, the vegetarian mains are exceptionally disappointing. The grilled squash was not worth eating as the flavours didn't blend in with the sweetness & the consistency along with the curry. The Hyderabadi aubergine was ok at best as it was overcooked.
We went in on Saturday for lunch when isn't busy at all. (3 tables occupied) The starters took about 35 mins to come & the mains were served within 5 mins if the starters being served.
We were 6 adults & 3 children. One of the dishes we ordered was the duck leg. We got served the pandhi pork curry! That was absolutely an unforgivable mistake so when I called the waitress & asked her why this was the case, her response was very nonchalant & she said that it was a mistake as she's still learning to operate the ordering system! I mean who says that? Imagine this being served to a Muslim family, what would their reaction have been? Or serving a beef dish to a Hindu family that doesn't eat beef? She couldn't care less & even worse was her apology was half hearted by saying that she'll knock that off the bill & at the end before leaving by saying that next time when we come she'll have learnt to operate the tills & that she won't make the same mistake! You couldn't make it up.
For a restaurant with such high prices the staff need to be more attentive & professional. Our bill was around the £300 mark so it wasn't cheap to experience this...
Read moreWent for a work lunch with a friend as we were looking forward to trying a different restaurant in Canary Wharf. We both had a 50% off a la carte offer as part of the Canary Wharf app discounts to local companies. We both asked upon entering to confirm that they take the offer and again when we were sat that it’s valid on the menu. Which was confirmed by the waitress. We decided to try the Thali as it was an easy quick decision given time restrictions. This arrived quickly, however half way through our meal, we overheard a neighbouring customer being told that the Thali is not subject to the discount. We asked then asked for our bill and decided to confirm with the waitress again about applying the offer. To which she said it doesn’t apply to the Thali. I said but it is on the a la carte menu so this seems to be false advertising. She said that’s the way it is. The discount applies to the rest of the menu only. I asked that this is made clearer on the app and also at the time of ordering especially if customers gave explicitly asked about the offer. Seems to be a trap here tbh. There were other items on the menu which would have been more wholesome and included in the offer. The food itself was ok. Popadoms were a bit soft and thick. The chicken was mostly sinew and the dhal quite watery. This has left such a poor experience for us where we could have had a similar dish at Gopal’s Corner in Market Hall which would also have been tastier and...
