Lovely wooden pews within, with arched pillars with a high wooden ceiling (much like an upside-down boat), clay tiled floors and beautiful stained glass arched windows, elegant tower with a spire. Victorian Gothic build of the 1860s, by the architect Thomas Cundy. Aesthetically pleasing internally and externally. Always assumed it was called St George's because of the square it's located on. Two aisles (North and South) also lead you to the focus of the religious purpose and the location of a fantastic stained glass window and magnificent alter. Looking upwards the plain lead glass windows let the light in and all around the lower level are a number of stained glass windows portraying a variety of scenes. The church tower and spire are tall, elegant and fitted with lovely clock faces. There is a church history and guide available full of detail and a donation can be made for the church upkeep.
