Would rate it zero stars if i could.! Without doubt one of the worst customer service experience i have ever come across. Before we even got to park up we had to dodge the two rows of trolleys that are located outside the store. The trolley parking area is not big enough to accommodate the large quantity of trolleys that the Range employee was ramming into the area so they stick out into the road making it impossible for 2 cars to pass. SOLUTION:- don't put so many trolleys outside... Once inside the store the layout was confused & it was more like a stack em high & sell em cheap junk shop because of the large quantity of pallets that were dumped in the middle of the aisles. We saw two groups of staff stood around who were (loudly) complaining about the shift system & long hours they were expected to carry out SOLUTION:- raise the issue with your management or get another job, the customers don't want to hear your griping.
Two members of the staff emerged from the staff room & squeezed past my wife & another customer who were nearly pushed into one of the pallets that was dumped in the aisle. They continued past without an apology & just sniggered as they continued on their merry way. SOLUTION:- remember who the customer is & why you are employed in the first place. A customer asked one of the staff to reach an item down from one of the higher shelves only to be told 'I'm going off shift so i will see if i can get another colleague to assist you', the customer was still waiting when we had finished our shopping (5 minutes later). SOLUTION:- take the time to assist the customer even if you had finished your shift OR make sure one of your colleagues does assist. Once we reached the checkout area the qeueing system was chaotic & poorly signed. No-one knew if they were supposed to wait until they were called forward by one of the cashiers or if they were supposed to approach as the previous customer was finished. SOLUTION:- mark the area up correctly with signage or make the approach more understandable. Once through the checkout, we were leaving the store & the alarm sounded, two of the cashiers turned around to see what caused the noise & one of them shouted 'basket' & then turned back to what they were doing. We had to assume that baskets were not allowed past that point so we emptied the basket, loaded ourselves up with the goods & left the store. SOLUTION:- advisory signage, not rude shouts. We will continue to travel to the Range in Hunslet where they understand customer service & i wish anyone who shops in the Wakefield...
Read moreThere's some very nice and reasonably priced home decorations and pictures etc. Having taken over the old Homebase store it doesn't feel the largest shop floor in the world and pallets of stock were left in the aisles everywhere. The Iceland section of the store consisted of two lines of freezers and dry/tinned goods were shelved against the wall. There's a DIY section featuring paints and wallpapers as well as packets of nails, screws, drill bits etc. There are also electric tools from a brand I don't recognise and at a price that could be good value depending on build quality and reliability. There's a small outside garden centre too. All in all, as a first time Range customer I was happy with the staff who were chirpy and helpful and there are items I'll go back for if I need them in the future. However it felt like it was just a mish-mash of B&M, Dunelm, No Frills DIY, garden centres etc. Whilst the store as a whole was really busy with being opening week, the old saying of "Jack of all trades master of none" springs to mind as each section of the range is really just a tiny taster of what the other specialist stores would have. That said I wish them all the best in their new location and I hope it works out well...
Read moreAwful customer service. Several staff members are extremely unwelcoming and dreadful to speak to. There is a complete lack of basic etiquette such as greeting a customer when they come to the till to pay. I was shocked when I said hello to the cashier but was completely ignored. I then said thank you after being served, but again, this cashier did not utter a word to me (bear in mind I heard this same cashier nattering away to her colleague moments before). On another occasion, I asked a member of staff for the price of a floral garland but was rudely told to go to the till to find out (erm, how about you price your items so that customers don't have to walk a mile and queue up to find out how much something costs). I wonder if me being an ethnic minority Muslim woman has anything to do with the poor treatment I get at this store. Further to this, the aisles are poorly laid out - I struggle to get my pushchair (which is a compact cabin-approved stroller) because the store is so cluttered. I dread to think how a wheelchair...
