I am very disappointed with my experience at Embassy Suites in Altamonte Springs. My Grandma, Father, Little sister and I came up for my little sister’s softball tryouts and tournament. Keep in mind she is 10 years old. As we arrive to the hotel we are unpacking the truck and facing the entrance/ car port of the hotel. As I’m holding bags and my dad is continuing to unpack, my grandma and little sister beside me I turn around and witness a woman holding a gun to a man’s face and yelling at him. We have not even entered the hotel and this is our first impression. I turned around facing my dad and froze out of fear and told him “dad she has a gun” I repeated this to him about five times in a low tone hoping my 10 year old sister didn’t hear so that she wouldn’t panic. Luckily she was smart enough to jump back into the truck and close the door. My grandma stood there in silence and shock while my dad kept an eye on the situation and thinking about how he could get us out of it. I would like to clarify that this lasted around two minutes. For many it may seem like two minutes isn’t so long, but when there’s a gun involved it is the longest two minutes you could imagine. Once the woman with the gun got back into the suv and the other guy ran into another car and they both drove off, not even two seconds later another mom from the softball team walks out the main hotel doors with her 10 year old daughter. I want you to take into consideration that had she walked out just a few seconds before she’d be face to face with a woman holding a gun to a man. Once we finally made it inside my dad asked the front desk if anyone is monitoring the cameras and they were completely oblivious. They responded that the person who does that wasn’t in yet. My dad explained to them what happened and they seemed to be slightly in shock but did nothing about it. Later that night when we came back after softball tryouts my dad explained it to the people on the night shift and one woman was slightly more concerned and did go and take a look at the cameras and let us know the next morning that she told corporate and they would file a report. That was the end of it. My dad sent an email and they responded with they filed a report and that was the end of it. I am extremely disappointing and unhappy with this. Had someone gotten hurt my little sister, grandma, and I (an 18 year old girl) would have been traumatized forever and for all I know the other little girl or her mom could have been harmed. I think we should get our money back. I feel like the hotel should have had some form of real security rather than a man in security uniform napping in the lobby, which is...
Read moreOur recent two-night stay at Embassy Suites by Hilton Orlando North (June 13–15, 2025) was incredibly disappointing and frustrating from beginning to end. As longtime Hilton customers, we chose this hotel expecting the comfort, cleanliness, and service the brand is known for. Unfortunately, this stay fell drastically short in multiple areas.
To start, the first room we were given had a malfunctioning air conditioner that wouldn’t cool below 75 degrees. We reported the issue immediately, and a technician was sent to take a look. We were told the unit would start cooling down shortly, but that never happened. We spent our first night extremely uncomfortable and unable to sleep properly in the heat.
After further complaints the next morning, we were finally moved to another room. While we appreciated being relocated, this was a major inconvenience for a two-night stay—especially since we had to repack and move all our belongings with no assistance.
Unfortunately, the second room brought a new set of problems. The moment we walked in, we were hit with a strong, overwhelming chemical odor—it smelled like Raid or some other industrial-strength insecticide. The odor was so intense that it caused our eyes to burn and made it hard to stay in the room for long periods without discomfort. It was unacceptable and deeply concerning from a health and safety perspective.
The problems didn’t end there. The elevators were barely functioning during our entire stay. At one point, only a single elevator was working for the entire east side of the hotel, leading to long wait times and large groups of people crowding the small lobby space. This was especially frustrating when trying to get up and down with luggage or after a long day out.
To top it all off, the fire alarm went off multiple times during our visit. During one instance, the alarm was so disruptive that hotel staff had to ask all guests to vacate the first-floor common area. While we understand safety systems can occasionally misfire, this added to the general sense of disorganization and lack of control at the property.
All of these issues combined made for an incredibly stressful and uncomfortable stay. We had looked forward to a relaxing weekend and instead dealt with maintenance problems, air quality concerns, safety disruptions, and general operational failures.
Sadly, I cannot recommend this hotel and would strongly advise others to consider alternative accommodations. I hope Hilton takes this feedback seriously, as it does not reflect the standard of hospitality we expect...
Read moreNormally, we are loyal to the Hampton brand of Hilton. We were traveling back from visiting our family in south Florida and wanted to stop in Orlando for the night. Since we had our teenage daughter with us and I am in a wheelchair, we decided to stay at this Embassy Suites to give us a little extra room. Unfortunately, nowhere on the Hilton app did it indicate that there were renovations/repairs occurring in the hotel atrium. It would be nice to know this information so guests could make an informed decision to stay or not.
We checked in on the Hilton app and selected the most accessible room available...near the entrance and on the first floor. We even paid an additional fee to stay in the larger corner rooms. Upon arriving at the hotel, we learned that we were moved to the third floor. My husband returned to the car and I told him that wasn't the room we requested. He went back into the lobby and explained that we chose a suite on the first floor because his wife is in a wheelchair. (It is more convenient to be on the first floor or one of the highest floors, when in a wheelchair. If you are on a lower floor, there are usually people in the elevators by the time they get down to lower floors and this make getting in and out more challenging.) The staff member then moved us back to the room we originally chose on the first floor.
The room was large and had plenty of space for me to maneuver. While unpacking, we found one little "guest" (a lizard) in one of the drawers but he was easily relocated outside. The sheets were clean and the room was in order. The bathroom was not. The counter and the bathtub appeared to be unclean. There was a ring and old stubble in the sink and hair left in the shower. Luckily, we had cleaning supplies with us and took the short time to fix the problem. It was easier than gathering all of our belongings and moving to another room but something we definitely should not have had to do.
Our breakfast was good and the attendants were all very polite. They made sure dishes were picked up and tables were cleaned immediately. It would have been a great experience if we didn't have to hear and see workers all around. The work to the atrium area could have been paused until guests were done with breakfast. Where is the commitment to your guests?
When checking out, we were asked if everything was okay with our stay. We told them no and we were told to have a good day! Don't ask if you don't care! Embassy Suite was a disappointment and next time, we'll stay in a little smaller...
