The 4 stars is for delcious food & ambience. We sat outside on lovely patio visually landscaped w/tranquility & comfy table spacing in mind. We ordered fried artichoke for appetizers. Delicious. For dinner, we ordered halibut fish & chips and citrus pan-seared steelhead trout. The trout was cooked perfectly. Moist, succulent flesh, perfect portion. My date didn't receive what she ordered. She also recvd trout in fish & chips entree but she ordered HALIBUT fish & chips. Very disappointing. This night, our service was extremely slow & inattentive. I was required to get up THREE times for service: (1) to ask about our appetizer after 20+ mins; (2) to ask about our dinner after 40 mins (and fish & chips arrived luke warm as tho it was sitting for long time) and (3) to ask for server about wrong meal of trout fish & chips that was NOT corrected because we were starving and couldn't wait 20+ minutes again. Our server wasn't sorry about his mistake. He wasn't pleasant nor did he recall we had ordered our meals when we first asked about status of our dinner - HE FORGOT US! The table of four next to us had to flag down our same server twice & get up to find him once (same as me). When our apps & food was Finally served, it was the Server Asst who delivered NOT our server. The server's name is "Chris". Without a doubt, the most Horrible Service in my life. This is 3rd time here. The first two times, the food was excellent, service attentive and pleasant, ambience relaxing. Don't let this review stop you from having a truly wonderful dinner in an upscale, relaxing atmosphere. Do NOT accept or tolerate "Chris" as your server. If you're stuck with this guy, tactfully advise up front you expect attentive prompt service OR ASK FOR ANOTHER SERVER. Hearsay has delicious food & drinks in upscale, casual atmosphere. Service was good 2/3 times but last time...
Read moreVery nice place! I love the ambience and the food was fabulous! We were able to get a reservation the same night; we didn’t expect that because places have been pretty busy especially Friday and Saturday since places were mostly shut down for indoor dining for months because of COVID. We started with the charcuterie tray and I was so hungry I forgot to take a photo. The andouille sausage, toasted bread, Rogue Creamery Crater Lake Blue cheese, Manchego cheese, strawberries, blueberries, whole grain mustard, and strawberry jam were a delicious and beautiful appetizer.
We also shared a small butter lettuce wedge salad. It was also delicious and beautiful. The bacon and heirloom tomatoes and house dressing with Rogue Creamery blue cheese was a perfect bite with the butter lettuce. My boyfriend got the tenderloin with mashed potatoes and collard greens. He shared a bite of the steak and the potatoes. It was excellent and perfectly cooked. I got the grilled shrimp with roasted poblano and jalapeño peppers and cheese grits. I had cornmeal crusted fried okra. It wasn’t awful, but I didn’t love it either. That was my first try at this southern item. The grits were so creamy and delicious. The shrimp was beautiful and delicious, a bit over cooked, but very tasty anyway.
My wonderful cousin knows I’m a foodie and she got me a gift certificate for this place. I loved it; I highly recommend this place; and I would go back again. So far my cousin’s choices have been amazing! We took two desserts for the road because my boyfriend’s teenager was in crisis (the WiFi wasn’t functioning...). And as of this review I hadn’t tasted my dark chocolate creme brûlée, but my boyfriend ate and thoroughly enjoyed his...
Read moreWhen I receive wonderful service at a resturant, I hate writing negative reviews, but it can't be helped because this was underwhelming at best.
The La Gloria cocktail was well balanced and was crafted with care. The potato & leek soup, if not a bit bland, was at least not too rich. The entre, the scallops and walnut polenta, was terrible and deserves to be called bland! The scallops were watery and the spicy marinade they used did not pair as well as expected with the walnut polenta. The polenta, which had a terribly grainy texture (like eating a mealy apple with almond shards in it) and was wholly disappointing for it's lack of flavor. It was all made worse by the enviro-unconscious tomatoes, which did not belong on there and should have been a preserved vegetable. Oh, plus who leaves seeds in the lemon they serve?
Now the only thing of the whole night that tasted like it belonged priced the way it was, was the carrot cake! Now that was worth it! It was so moist and had the right amount of spice behind it, backed by the sweet cream cheese and caramel. I was told the story behind it's addition to the menu and it was very sweet to hear and made it taste better yet. At least the ending didn't disappoint.
My overall experience was that only the desert was a fairly priced, delicious menu item, and is the only reason I...
