Hyatt Place Atlanta/Downtown — Attraction in Atlanta

I am a business owner and mother of seven. My 7 children and I were going on vacation with my father the week before Father's Day we had planned everything and the rooms were booked only thing missing was us. This was supposed to be a great trip, but it turned into a complete nightmare the day I arrived at the hotel to check in. My father informed the front desk that he would not arrive until the next day and that I would arrive the day before him and that he would be paying for the whole stay. At no point was my father informed that whoever checked in would be required to present the card in order to gain access to the rooms. I do not normally travel and was not aware of specific policies surrounding the check-in procedure. My sister works in the industry and I called her and I was very frantic because I had my 7 children with me and my father would not be arriving until the next day and the option I was left with was to put the entire balance of the stay on my card which I did not have. I asked what could be done about the situation because I had no where to go since my father would not be arriving until tomorrow the Manager flat out told me there was basically nothing she could do to help the situation at all. My sister pleaded with her to allow me to stay the night and she would use the mobile check-in they said I would still need to provide the actual card and they also told her due to policy nothing could be done to help me. I began to cry because I would be forced to sleep in my car with my children until my father arrived the next day. My sister booked me at one of her chain hotels which is not associated with Hyatt at all and they showed compassion for me for my lack of travel knowledge. They had the heart to not leave a woman travelling with 7 children on the streets. The other hotel was very kind and apologized to me for the experience I had to deal with. I will never stay at a Hyatt hotel due to this experience at this location and the trauma it has caused my 7 children may make them be scared to travel at all! Very unhospitable, no compassion, and the lack of empathy was all too...

There are a lot of events in Atlanta, that’s understood, BUT, we came for a show and didn’t explore every other planned event. That said, the hotel failed to inform us, or any guests for that matter that there was a parade route closing the only exit/entrance x 2-2.5 hrs starting at 0930 (just b4 checkout) EFFECTIVELY TRAPPING ALL VEHICLES ON HOTEL PROPERTY until +/- noon!!! Police refused to let us out. Glad we didn’t have a plane to catch!! Im typically pretty easy to please but hat was a bummer... But in addition to that, the elevators are VERY noisy and shook the walls (and we weren’t even directly beside them) kept us awake all night even w/ ear plugs and white noise!! Then there’s the heat, sounds like a belt on an old car squealing constantly every time it comes on!! Got very little to no interrupted sleep... I think... One should probably plan for full on inebriation if they expect to get any sleep in this place, at least on the half near the elevators or if ur room has a squealing belt!!! so, it was a real pleasant surprise to wake up from no sleep, pack the grumpy family (who got no sleep either), pack the car and then discover as u r trying to pull out that not only r u stuck for the next 2.5 hrs, but u already checked out too! On the bright side the room was aesthetically pleasing and the staff was actually courteous and as helpful as they could be, and they did allow us back in the room to wait until checkout time, but the parade still had an hour to go beyond that. Now on the bright side, the food really was decent and so was Mahalia, one of the very kind and helpful breakfast servers, thank you Mahalia. You, the couple other employees we dealt with (doing the best they could with what they had) and that breakfast account for that single star up there... The hotel management, it seems, (esp given there wasn’t a single other indication posted or observed), should have informed guests of the road shutdown and that guests would be trapped for hours. The main reason for my 1st ever 1 star rating is BEDBUGS!! Brought my daughter down to Atlanta for an overnight stay for once in a lifetime concert opportunity (KISS Farewell Tour); since I have never been exposed to them previously (and I'm 55 years old!), I had no idea we had picked up these damn hitch hikers; this was in early April, we are STILL trying to rid our household of these damn things. And of course Hyatt wanted to assume NO responsibility for this, they blew me off just as I suspected they would. After 2 weeks home we found them, they had developed, populated, and infested our bedroom; we had no idea until they bit my wife up & down her legs one night about 3 weeks after staying in that bug pit down in Atlanta!! I had to burn our mattress and box spring, there was no saving them; I have now shelled out over 2k for another bedding set and 100% mattress enclosures fr all our rooms, plus several hundred in bug eradication equipment. But the worst part of it is the labor we have had to put in completely emptying our bedroom, and washing every article of clothing we own; also every sheet, blanket, comforter, bathroom towel, etc. we have been living in our living room with all our belongings for 2 months now; it looks just like an "extreme hoarders" mess you would see on T.V. Guess what Hyatt; I will post this message over, and over, and over; everywhere that will permit it. I had no idea how tough these things are, but they are near impossible to get rid of, bug sprays don't seem to work on them at all, at some point I may have to give up and have our home emptied, tented, and gassed for a few thousand more dollars. You really suck Hyatt Atlanta; and YES, we know it was from your infested hotel because it was the only place we have gone so far this year!!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE, or at the very least, if you must stay here, inspect it with flashlights from top to bottom before bringing in any luggage or clothing, but I would never...
