It's particularly hard for me to write this review...mostly because the food I had was generally good. that being said, after considering the customer service, cost, and other nearby restaurants, I just don't think this place is that good.
I went with a group of coworkers for lunch (7 of us total). I would describe the service as "just ok". They were not slow, but they certainly were not fast either, especially considering the place wasn't even close to full. They were generally friendly, but they seemed to be understaffed in general...one thing that particularly bugged me about the service is how all of our meals slowly rolled over to the table. It took ~10 minutes for all 7 of us to finally get our food. I would expect better coordination from the kitchen and wait staff or at the very least, some exploitation from the wait staff as to WHY everything rolled out so slowly.
The food itself was generally good, but I personally don't think it's worth what their charging in terms of quantity and flavor. I got one of the rice bowls and I would definitely not recommend them. for 20 bucks total, it could have been better seasoned and been a little bigger. The burgers and mexican dishes my co-workers got were more reasonably priced, but didn't look particularly good. Maybe this place would be good for a burger and a beer, but honestly, I would recommend someone go to Max Lagers just a block away for a similarly priced, but higher quality burger and generally better customer service (at least in my experience). Gibney's just a few blocks south also offers pretty good burgers (they are more of a greasy spoon diner style burger though). Finally, Pacific Rim bistro is just next door and offers much better quality, pricing and customer service, albeit with a different general cuisine/menu.
In general, I'd recommend avoiding this place. it's not a bad experience overall, there just are much better...
Read moreAbsolutely ridiculously terrible service. We went there during Dragoncon Sunday evening and the waitress with black hair that served us did a terrible job. Usually I would not complain because I am a server and usually I just let it go because I understand. But this was just too much. One of the bad things about going to restaurants during Dragoncon is that 1. They are busy, which is a given and which is why we try to understand. 2. They charge gratuity. When restaurants charge gratuity, there are two ways your service could go. 1. The server does their job to the best of their ability and the guests have a very pleasant experience, or 2. The server realizes that they are going to get the tip via gratuity anyways no matter what and gives terrible service and overall just does not care. We had the 2nd in this visit. We ordered appetizers and our meal, waited 15 minutes and the apps did not come. The main meals ended up coming after 10 more minutes. The waitress lied to us after seeing we didn’t get our appetizers, because she forgot to put them in, and said that they were at the window. But then after another 10 minutes, she came back and told us that our appetizers would take a lot more time. We gave a clear answer that we still wanted our apps, waited for the appetizers to come, and they never came. We had to wave down our waitress and ask her if the apps were coming, in which she replied “Oh I thought you didn’t want them anymore.” At this point, there would be no point in waiting even longer for food items that were never put in in the first place. Absolutely ridiculous that we are automatically charged gratuity for a service that most of us here would not even tip 1 dollar for. This was our first experience and last experience here and will not...
Read moreYea this place is horrible. Never had a good meal there. Extremely over priced.
This last experience was it for me. I will nver spend any money here again ...
So I asked for a drink and was handed a rather long menu but I knew I wanted a fish bowl so I asked how much they were. The waitress said $15. I saw a ginger beer slide across the bar so I asked "which drink has the ginger beer?" she said "what's wrong you can't read?". Ok there goes your tip. I noticed that the drinks were also $15.99. Nothing major just worth the mention. She pointed at the menu to one drink I said something about just wanting the one with the ginger beer. She said there were several. I only saw one after looking at the menu.
So I ordered the one I saw. She charged me $18 so I definitely didn't leave a tip then, thought I might speak to management. I never got the chance.
I noticed my phone was dying. I asked another employee about a charger. He said the bartender had one so I asked the bartender, she just waved me off in disregard then when the other guy asked her about it she said "he didn't tip me I don't care what he needs".
This woman has no business being a bartender. Folks a tip is something you give from gratitude for the good service you receive. It's not buying good service or in this case hopefully at least mediocre services cause it was horrible out the gate.
This happened the Wednesday before Dragoncon 2018 I absolutely recommend that you not visit this location at all if you are from out of town...
