Edit: You can't respond to the hotel's response so here goes: The minute I got up to my room after paying the extra $150 deposit, I called the customer service line for Motel 6 directly. The first representative told me the hotel can't make me pay it if they didn't disclose it at booking, and told me to talk to the front desk. There were no managers there at the time and I was told I'd have to wait until tomorrow when she came in. So I called the customer service line again, and got a very rude woman who said in exact words when I complained about the $150 deposit that wasn't budgeted: 'Well, what do you want me to do about it? You're going to get that money back anyways.' Even when I said ma'am, I understand it's going to be refunded to me in 7 to 10 business days, that doesn't help me NOW when I'm in another state. So no, calling the customer service line for this chain doesn't do any good. They'll give you the runaround, tell you to talk to people who will tell you they can't help you. So long story short, this hotel needs to make a point to broadcast the extra $150 fee to anyone who books - that's what I tried telling customer service when I called. But they don't care. Waiting until you walk in and hand you their card, after you've just driven however many hours to get there, to say 'oh and there's a $150 deposit too' and then chuckle and say 'yeah they should really tell people about it' when you look shocked, is not good business.
Planned a small vacation. Made reservations here through Motel 6 directly, not through a separate company. Initially was please, the room rate was roughly 90 bucks before taxes for the first night. And 135 for the second night. Spoke with the hotel and was offered to have the rate changed to 90 for both nights. Here's the issue. Upon arrival was told that in addition to the room fees, there were additional charges that were not disclosed prior to arrival. 14 dollars a night for parking, and 150 dollar for a room deposit that wasn't disclosed before hand.
Subsequently caused me to cancel my second night because the extra cost blew the budget I had planned for the 2 day trip. This caused an additional issue.
When we arrived and found this out we called motel 6 and asked about the cancelation process for the second night. Initially was told from the front desk that we could just check out and we wouldn't be charged. To confirm we called the motel 6 reservation line and was told it was to late to cancel the second night. Total cost plus parking was 236 dollars plus the 150 deposit.
Plus sides for the hotel, parking (even with the additional charge) seems very secure. Elevator was old but working. Comfortable mattresses. Room was maintained and clean.
Downsides for the hotel itself. Poor soundproofing, loud box springs on mattresses, no mini fridge in room, no coffee pot in room.
Overall I do no recommend this hotel unless you are aware of these issues before hand and are willing to accept these extra charges. According to the front desk the refund for the canceled night will take 7 to 10 business days to...
Read moreI was in town for 6 days, attending a conference for school. All I really needed was a quiet place to study and sleep at night. The fact that they do not serve breakfast was fine because it was provided by conference. THE SERVICE: I got in on a Friday night and Ben was at the front desk. He was so knowledgeable and pleasant. He was able to answer all of my questions and even told me he'd put me in a nice, quiet room since he knew I was in town for school. I interacted with two other gentlemen during my stay, and they were both pleasant, but did not go above and beyond like Ben did. He's an asset to the company. THE ROOM: The room was quite large. I had a small closet area, a dresser with a microwave and mini fridge (as promised in my reservation), an L-shaped desk and comfy chair which was perfect for studying, a California king bed with plenty of pillows, and a very nice bathroom with a beautiful shower and excellent water pressure! The AC/heat was excellent - wasn't noisy at all. The wifi was free and very strong. I had no trouble using the internet for homework, and was able to stream Netflix very easily. One of my favorite features of the room quickly became my least favorite - the balcony. I had a private balcony in my room which was only accessible through a large window. Unfortunately the window was nailed shut, so I couldn't open it. I would've enjoyed spending time out there, or having the window open for a breeze. CLEANLINESS: My room was very clean, as was the rest of the hotel as I walked through it. The one thing I didn't like was one of my hand towels had a black smudge of what looked like makeup. I had plenty of other towels though, so I didn't really mind. NOISE: Being that the hotel is in downtown Atlanta, there was a lot of city noise. The hotel backs up to a highway, so the traffic noise was persistent throughout the night. I can't really say it had an impact on my ability to sleep though. As far as other guests, there were a few individuals who were standing in the hallway outside my door in the evening talking, and they were pretty loud. However, their noise died down by the time I went to sleep. COST: The conference I attended was held at the Marriott, about a block away. I was given a special rate of $112/night for the conference, but our block of rooms was full when I called to book. I searched nearby hotels and the Motel 6 seemed like the best option for my money - about $70/night. It was a HUGE savings for me. OVERALL: I had a great experience. Between the customer service, the very large/clean room I had, and the ease of walking back and forth to my conference, I enjoyed everything about this hotel. I was a bit worried from some of the other reviews I read, but I can't say that my stay was anything less than satisfactory. For the money, and the convenience of having the microwave and fridge, I'd stay here...
Read moreI have never had such such a disrespectful and horrific visit at this hotel. First of all I came from NC into Atlanta on mission work along with vacationing. We as grown patrons ana out of town visitors should not have to be treated in such a manner as I was treated. After a certain point I could not get in my room unless I ring doorbell and then the clerk would not let my consumers in with me because she was being bias and judgemental due to the fact some of my consumers that I came into town to prpprcess were homeless. Part of my goal and focus to arrive in Atlanta is because of the populated homeless rate and these people seek casual asistance. The front desk last goes on to tell me there's was NO accompanist after 11p -7a...mins you I'm entitled to A GUEST iny room regardless of the status and we'll being of an individual. She denied me bringing my consumer into MY ROOM WHICH I PAID !!! So I had to alternate my processing with two client at two different times to have discussions and counseling with them in my car. Tell me we are grown adults ...what hotel disallows paid partons not to have company. Either of these attempts were not disruptive issues...she jus seen that they were homeless being judgemental decides I can't do what I I needed to do ...AFTER explaining to the font desk lady on what misson I was on..After morning shift came in i received a call about 8:50 a asking me to leabe tje premises or the police will be called ad it is then i will be charged with trespassing! I asked the first shiftan at front desk on what terms am I being asked to leave the premises because neither time was there ANY disturbing reports or complaints!!! He went on to say I had three different companies who are homeless and I need to leave no other reasonable explanation provider.... At this point I'm devastated because I had came from North Carolina have to put my stuff back in the car and find another hotel that was scheduled to stay till Friday.. he called corporate cancelled my extended stay. Thankfully I was able to go straight to another motel and check in immediately after this disaster.... I've never been treated like this in any hotel anywhere and I was not provided any profound explanation as to why i had to leave other than I had three different visitors overnigh periodically..... As I forstated stated...there was never any complaintslllllneother time that my accompanist leave my room at any reason...neither was there any visual disturbance I don't understand how you going to keep visitors specially from another the right to have a guest this issue cause very distress when I was denied having guest because they were judging them becausel of their...
