I don't know what I was expecting, but it sure wasn't this.
First, let's talk about the whole cover charge fiasco. They could not figure out how to take a credit card for cover and could not put it on the tab and then tried to trick us into using an ATM which had overpriced fees. I ended up finding some cash.
Now let's discuss drinks. They have a full bar is what they say. I had seen a drink menu from them before and ordered off their menu. The bartender says doesn't know what is in it and she can't make that. I suggest another more common drink also on the menu, she asks what's in it and then says they don't have that. I then ask for a third super common drink, and she asks what's in it. Guess what? Can't make that. I gave up and had water. And this wasn't just me, my friend who was with me also had to teach the bartender how to make her drink (amaretto sour). I've never had to teach a bartender how to make a drink before.
So I finally give up and since we were here for their comedy show, I asked for their food menu since I really could not eat at Fuse which is where we went earlier. Everything I ordered the bartender claimed they were out of. Finally I settled on basket of fries, and then asked if they were out of potatoes. Surprisingly they weren't!
While waiting for my fries, I had to use the bathroom. The single occupancy men's room does not close so everyone gets to watch you use the toilet. The restroom had obviously not been cleaned in years. That is completely disgusting.
So let's discuss this comedy show. It was supposed to start at 10 pm. By the time we got our fries (which were burnt) and paid, it was 10:30 and the show still had not started yet. So as my friend and I agreed, if the show had not started by the time we had our fries we were going to go. We all have other things to do, she is a medical student and she needs to study and I am a hypnotherapist who could be doing my own show or working on my business.
So we left and as we were leaving, several staff members acted surprised that we were leaving. One actually said "You're really leaving"? Then when I pointed out that their show was supposed to start over 30 min prior, he (a huge black guy) started making fun of my medicine satchel which includes my anti-seizure medications and sunglasses (a requirement for a photo-sensitive epileptic on Broad street at night. And then proceeded to shout and insult me down broad street.
As a hypnotist, I should have made him cluck...

I'm not a Saint nor a disgraced sinner; Last night a friend of mine Dave Morgan whom I go to church with him and one of the guitar players...who have a band called the HOLLERERS invited me to come by and enjoy the band. About 10PM the band started and I enjoyed i very much. I looked at table in back of me and saw a single lady and I introduced myself and she told me she was the girlfriend of one of the guitar players; I walked up to the stage and asked her friend would he mind if she sat with me rather than by herself and he said absolutely it was OK , he'd rather her sit with me than by herself. In the meantime, I walked to the bar and ran into 2 lovely ladies and I said to them...."you are very attractive, and if no one has told you told you today...I JUST did". Well, Well, ...the next thing I know the manager approached my table and said I had been "report" for harassing 2 female customers and he asked me to leave. I asked him if he would call them into the office and let them repeat what I had "supposedly" said to them....and he refused because he said it may "cost him too much money". I pointed out how unfair it was for someone to levy charges against another and that person not have the opportunity to, upon reguest, look them straight in the face and say "repeat what he said". Without causing additional, I just left. But, I wish, should you go to Joe's Underground in the future.....be very careful who you talk to ....and how you talk to....because just being friendly....you may be asked to leave. I'm going to pursue this further. Oh, the band was great....THE HOLLERERS. Sorry I may not be able to hear you again at below Joes's. I really didn't know how LOW they can go. ...
Read moreI recently went through a total Laryngectomy Surgical procedure. Before I totally lost my voice due to throat cancer, my brother treated me to a night out. We started the night at Joe's, walked Broad St., shot some pool at another establishment, and ended up back at Joe's as intended. Joe's was the best part of the night! We had the best conversations there! Some of my last conversations with him. Normally, the draft beer & juke box being down would be negatives!!! But, for that night, other than the bartender, we were the only 2 customers in the place! I t created an intimate and wonderful evening for me & my brother! We still got our drinks, talked the night away, & had a magical night! Here it is, over 2 weeks later, after 12 hours worth of surgery, 1 & 1/2 days in i.c.u., plus 7 days in the hospital... Never able to speak again... I'll never forget that night at Joe's...
