Let’s be real—this is Austin, so like many public spaces, you’ll probably find some unhoused folks around especially at night and the restrooms are likely not the cleanest (I didn’t use them, but other reviews mention that). That said, This park feels like a mini Zilker—but designed with kids in mind. The open grassy areas are perfect for running around or laying down a picnic blanket. The playground is massive, with creative structures and space for all ages to explore and play. There’s even a splash pad/water feature to help kids cool off on hot days.
Located next to Auditorium Shores and not far from Barton Springs.. One of my favorite things about this park is the stunning view of the Austin skyline—especially at sunset. There are swings, shaded seating areas, bathrooms, and plenty of room to just be outside and enjoy the moment. It’s a place where kids can be wild and free, and grown-ups can still take in the beauty of the city.
Highly recommend for anyone visiting Austin with little ones—or if you’re just looking for a peaceful, joyful spot...

There are other amenities like a splash pad and a big rope tower that we aren’t as interested in, but the tunnels and sand out can easily buy us 45 min to an hour of relatively easy parenting.
Insider knowledge: the weekdays in the morning are (in my opinion) the absolute best time to go. It doesn’t have the weekend crowd which means parking (which is the toughest part) is extremely easy. Parents with young kids seem to congregate there so we find okay buddies almost every single time. And then it’s a hop/skip to a lot of other attractions either downtown or at zilker nearby. We are big fans and...
Read moreWell maintained park in down town Austin. Feels very safe and there’s always lots of kids there. Very artistic and organic. It’s got a giant stone slide, swings, big sand pit, and lots of things to climb on. It is also pretty well shaded. The splash pad right by it is my kids favorite part. It’s large with lots of seats. It is not shaded so bring an umbrella and sunscreen if you’re going to spend lots of time in the splash pad. My toddler enjoyed running through the tunnels and the sand but it is lacking in things to do for younger kids. especially compared to other parks in the area that have smaller slides and things for...
