It's confusing how this establishment manage to maintain business with its undeniable poor quality, taste, presentation and pricing for their food.
The ramen broth "appears" thick but taste incredibly bland; noodles are simply tasteless as well. The yakiudon...really?? Is it even considered yakiudon? Is it considered a dish? It's the one of the most unappetizing thing a person can witness...it sadly makes fast food look better. Appetizers may be from the frozen food section, but people most likely can prepare it better at home...other people's rice bowl must be below standard as well since they only took 3 bites of it and ready to move on...it's just SO bad.
It's so bad, you would think their pricing would be lower BUT NO, their pricing is actually more than most legitimate ramen restaurants in Austin...so how it manages to stay in business?? It's a mystery! But regardless, why suffer when you can get significantly better food elsewhere.
Lastly, it must be noted that this place has cleanliness concerns...the dining room is grimy. Something gotta be wrong with their air ventilation. There are leaks and it wasn't even raining that day. I mean most restaurants over there are in old establishments, so it's challenging to look its best, but at least try...
All in all...there are so many things that this place must improve on in order to survive this competitive restaurant industry. In the meantime, skip your remote curiosity and quickly move on to anywhere...
Read moreI’m no food critic but I just ate there 20 minutes ago. Came in with two friends and we each got different meals. I got the combination yakisoba with egg on the side. Let me tell you this is the best Asian food I have ever had. My two buddies are much more critical about food like this and they both agreed that it was incredible. Perfect mix of veggies, noodles, and excellently cooked meats. I think they struggle to bring in customers because of the area and their storefront being a little off-putting. I’ll even admit I was skeptical and almost skipped it at first. The price was just under $20 which is pretty modest for this area. The inside is very clean and much nicer than the outside suggests. Very friendly guy at the front really sold this as a 5 star experience for me. If you’re an average person looking for an incredible place to eat in Austin, I’ll urge you to try this place because I believe the only thing holding them back from being big time is the...
Read moreLots to choose from. However with my past experiences, you could probably get much better ramen elsewhere. Other dishes seem fine though.
I'm updating my review (10/10/2017): There's a noticeable decay in food quality. I usually order the tonkotsu ramen. My pork cutlets were significantly overcooked. The noodles were extremely salty and broth was bland. I really hope this is a one time issue. I'll update my review again after the next visit.
Update (10/26/2017): I really want to like this place. I really do. But I think quality control is just being ignored. This time, my pork cutlets were more than 50% fat. At the point, I'd really rather go somewhere cheaper because the value is just not there for this ramen.
Update (7/1/2018): I tried the braised pork over rice. It's actually priced quite reasonably. It was pretty good as well. Only complaint is the pool of oil I found at the bottom of my bowl. Otherwise, it was...
