Chinese reboot Decided I wanted to try a new Chinese restaurant on the Drag. This is a small restaurant next to several boba tea shops and other Asian restaurants. I was curious after having boba near by. Not the fanciest restaurant from the outside, I wasn't sure I was in the right spot because the sign had two different names. One for Family Chinese restaurant and one for noodles and more. Turns out Family Chinese restaurant had rebranded and changed their offerings. Decided to stay because they not only offered noodles but also offer poke bowls which my wife likes. First to come out was the poke bowl, it looked really good. I was a bit slow to photograph it, it was partially eaten. My daughter and I had noodle bowls. Note the kiosk allows ordering additional noodles and meat, they aren't necessary unless you want extra. I had the braised beef based on other reviews I read. Food was nice and hot with generous portions. The beef was very tender with good flavor. Noodles were hot and tender. My daughter had the pepper steak, it had a nice flavor I preferred it to the braised beef. All in all the food was good. I did go during a slow time, this might have...
Read moreIf you are looking for food that makes your money worth, do not eat here. I ordered the Braised Beef noodle soup ($16.23 post-tax), expecting a sizeable meal due to the higher price (can go to Pinch or the next door pho place for $9 or $15, and you'd have leftovers for sure). However, the portion I received was insanely small, with the soup only coming up to about half of the bowl's height. There was also only ~6 pieces of beef (which to be fair, were tender). The noodles were also highly lacking, as they were all cut up, and could effectively all be eaten in less than 10 bites. You can apparently pay an extra $1.5 for more noodles, although you're now paying $18 dollars just for a meal to fill you up. The dish itself was overall OK, soup was very savory and had a strong vinegar flavor. Looking at other tables, it seems like their rice bowls (and potentially dry noodle dishes) have more content and food, so maybe you'll have more luck than I did if you order those other options. The server is accommodating and kind, and the atmosphere is while a bit worn down, defenitely cozy (and equipped with great AC). But do not expect to be full after eating here (unless you...
Read moreI’ve had the ramen from here multiple times before and it was great, but my most recent experience felt off. I had ordered the ramen katsu and the fried pork gyoza. The ramen noodles were underdone and when I told the server he kindly offered replacement noodles, but the new noodles had a foul odor on them. In addition, my pork gyoza was underdone on some of the sides. Overall, the food felt rushed. I used to love this place and recommended it to my friends, but after this experience I don’t think I’ll be...
