Welcome to the wildest ride in the wilderness!
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is one of my all time favorites when visiting Disneyland. One night a friend and I rode this coaster 8 times in a row between 11:30 and midnight.
As far as coasters go, it's not scary with giant drops and massive g-force. It doesn't go upside down or have any corkscrews but it is super fun! As with most Disney attractions, the ride queue is full of cool details and things to occupy your eyes while waiting in line. Once your one the ride and I strongly suggest the rear cars on the train, you get immersed in the theme of the Big Thunder Mountain.
The park has recently done some upgrades to the ride too and they have made it an even better experience than before. I got my mom of later years to finally agree to ride this attraction this year. It was her very first time to Disneyland in her whole life and she was very apprehensive about the rides.
After we got off and were headed out to meet up with our party, she says. "let's do that again"! I was stoopified and elated at the same time. She liked it so much that she wanted to ride again and so we did.
When you visit Disneyland, you will definitely want to make time to ride the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. It is well worth it.
Have fun and thanks...

Read moreOne of the older rides in the park and a favorite from my childhood. The story of the ride was that there was a mining town that was cursed by the Native Americans. A flash flood hit the town and it was abandoned. A miner came upon a train car moving in it's own and jumped on. When he finished his uncontrolled ride he had handfuls of gold. Now for the last 37 years you too can take a wild ride on a miner's possessed train. There aren't huge drops like traditional roller coasters. This is more hair pin turns and small drops and fast speeds. It's still a roller coaster but even the younger set can enjoy it. It's filled with the theming that Disney excels at. All of the little touches are in place that make you feel like you are racing around a mountain in the Southwest.
This is another ride that demands you try to get a fast pass days in advance. I was able to secure one of the last ones of the day at 11 pm in the hotel room. I strongly suggest you book even earlier that. On the day I went waits for the ride were typically over two hours. the fast pass got me through the ride in about...
