Honestly this place is unbelievably terrible now. I mean being overpriced is one thing but my last trip to this theater was awful. First off the parking lot situation is a mess, for 10 dollars a person they can afford to have someone outside to directing traffic. The real crap factor of this theater shines through with the total lack of skill of the employees and customer service. I saw they had a new Icee flavor and wanted to try it, this was a midnight showing of the new batman movie so the lines were pretty terrible (whatever that is to be expected). After waiting in line for like 10 minutes I ordered two Icees. I would think someone working at a movie theater could pour an Icee half way decently, but no, the person pouring my Icee overfilled it then said she could fix it for me and poured water all over it. Obviously pouring lukewarm water on something that is supposed to be partly frozen ruins it. While she was ruining my first Icee I paid 8 dollars for another person poured my second, overfilling it again. Apparently I have handled more Icees in my limited time at movie theaters than this person has because she dropped it on the counter where it promptly exploded everywhere. Then the Icee machine needed more time to create more Icees the employee just told me "you can come back later." Oh really miss I can come back later to get my overpriced crap that you messed up for me twice? I never would of thought. This really worries me because I think soon AMC is going to just start taking our money and then possibly giving us our snacks and possibly letting us see the movie we want. One day I worry we will have to just give an AMC employee 50 bucks and then they may or may not give us some kind of drinks and candy or whatnot and then they will just give us a ticket to whichever movie is making them the most money. If AMC runs their movie theaters any worse I am worried that the U.S. government is going to be pledging them billions of dollars in...
Read moreI am so heart broken and upset with what happened with my family this year ( 2020 ) on Thanksgiving night. We have had a tradition for a few years now that my husband and I and my kids and grandchildren go see a movie after we celebrate thanksgiving dinner. So we all pack up excited and over joyed to go watch new “Croods” movie. We first entered and paid for tickets , no problem, then my son approached snack counter and was told he would not be served without a mask ( which he has forgotten to put his on- just an oversight ) he asked for manager and the kid was the most rude and harsh and so unprofessional and things went south quickly. Needless to say he got heated( kid behind counter). Then my son in law was defending my son and he was jumped on about his neck gaiter and was told he had to have a different mask and of course that upset him because not for needing to exchange face coverings but the attitude the kid had behind counter. My son in law was kicked out, the manager argued about my son and son in law instead of Reprimanding his employee for not handling the situation on a professional level then my grandkids started crying because their dad had to leave and the chaos was unbelievable. Anyway, long story short we got our money back and left and our little tradition was ruined. I’ve lived in Bloomington for 30 years and have always been going to this theatre and I am shocked and disgusted by how the whole thing went down. I may never go back and I’m heartbroken over it. It was truly my favorite movie theater ☹️ Some of us also took matters to a higher level because it is completely unacceptable to be so rude and be filled with such hate. We have enough of that in this world. Come on people, in a movie theater too?!! Be kind it goes a long way.
Well it’s been a couple of years since the issue above, update; we have been back and all is good. Must be under different management because it’s the place we loved and...
Read moreI've been an AMC Stubs member and now I'm embarrassed to be one because of all of the cutting in line and such.
I don't mind saving some money and getting rewards here and there, but treating me like I am somehow preferred over other customers is not the experience I look for.
[Edit] The policy has not changed! There is still a preferred line for customers that can afford it.
Why promote buying your way out of good manners and etiquette? The preferred lines stand as a testament to a corporate misunderstanding of what it is to be poor.
Just because I can afford the rewards system does not mean that I want to cut in front of the rest.
It makes me want to revoke my rewards membership rather than be participate in a system that has fast lanes for those with means and slow lanes for those without.
This marketing strategy is a blight, based on archaic advertising motifs that ignore a customer's desire to feel real emotions like empathy and compassion in the movie theatre.
I don't suddenly wish to start participating in these feelings once I'm in my seat. I want it to begin as I'm going to my movie, and I don't want the spell to be broken by some callous idea that some Mr. Jones came up with in order to look good in a meeting.
I don't want to see people oppressed at anytime; however, I pretty much expect it from a place that does not peddle emotions. But to be a business that DOES deal in affecting the emotional experience of a customer, and to then present yourself as a business that is unfeeling right when I walk in the door, is not only a missed opportunity.
It creates a lack of distrust in your own self awareness.
Do you know what you are selling?
This is a comment about the marketing decisions of AMC. The theatre staff is top notch at AMC 12 as well as AMC 11. I hope they are treated with more consideration than...
