I bought a ticket to see a movie at 10:30 tonight. Green line near me wasnt working so i took the orange line to Chinatown. Got to the door of the AMC Commons a little before 11 pm and security was standing in it. I told him i had a ticket and was trying to get in for a 10:30 pm showing. Informed him how the green line wasnt working. May i mind you, im a frequent flyer at this AMC so I know he knows my face. He said the doors are closed, no one is allowed in. After a bit of back and forth (about three requests in) where he says the manager is "upstairs doing things" along with some other excuses... He goes on his walkie and he calls who I assume is the manager. The employee that shows up says shes "just a messenger" when i tell her everything and that letting someone in after the doors close is a security risk. That doesnt sound like a manager speaking now does it? I say you can check my bag, I do not mind. i already spent money to get here and i already have my ticket. Neither oblige.
I ask her what time the doors close, she says 11 pm. At this point in the conversation it's 11:03 pm And i show her with my phone meaning I obviously got there before 11 pm. She walks away from me without saying anything more. No attempt to acknowledge the fact that my money is gone and no service had been provided. Terrible customer service at the end of a spree of unfortunate events. I'm coming back in the morning to properly report this, but I'm taking the moment to share this location made a bad night much worse thanks to its security working and the employee I spoke to.
UPDATE: I went back the next day and spoke to the same employee that had walked away from me. She informed me then she was a supervisor and had walked away to walkie the manager to obtain permission for me to enter (though I hadn't been informed what she was doing in the moment I had pointed out). I was then given a free ticket to enter as...
Read moreWent for the F1 Preview at iMax, pretty cool screen, certainly above average for standard imax screens. The professionalism of concession stand staff varies—this time a helpful guy explained through the favours of that hot snack I wanted, and despite this being a last-minute order during peak evening hours, the food came out in time before the screening actually starts. Last time a different employee seemed bored and impatient with a much simpler order. Interestingly the quality of soft drinks also varies. They had tame and fizz-less coke one day, and decent kinds on another.
Only reason I docked one star off was due to unruly behaviour from audiences. If this isn’t a RELAXED VIEWING you shouldn’t look at your phone with light on. If you’d rather not watch the film just take your phone outside. And taking screenshots… I called out the offending person a few times before her partner stopped her. Then at the final half of the film the partner started checking the phone with full light on. Couldn’t figure out if they loved the film so much that they had to record it OR they hated it so much that they preferred surfing the internet.
AMC please give out random penalties for such behaviour, like some indie cinemas would have staff caution once then ask them to leave lol. It’s baffling to see five stars reviews attaching screenshots got warm replies from the theatre. Do not give official encouragement to such behaviour. Netflix Basic cost way less than a ticket and those who don’t like film watching etiquette can enjoy that...
Read moreI was not impressed at all! The location is convenient, the actual building and theater is beautiful. However, there is very little parking and the staff is not friendly! While buying tickets my son had to use the restroom, he was told he could not use the bathroom until he had a ticket. Really??? Then, when we got upstairs to order food, the young man behind the counter did not hear my order the first or the second time and turned to me to say, "What?" So, when I corrected him and asked would it be so hard to say, "Would you please repeat that?" He got mad, rolled his eyes and say, "How can I help you?"...With an attitude! If this was not enough when I went to end of the counter to pick up my food, the young lady gave me the wrong order. I told her it was wrong. She said "Will this is what they charged you for, so..." I waited. Thinking she would go and verify that the order was correct, but she stood there looking at me like I did something wrong. So, I said to her, " Instead of telling me what I ordered, how about you apologize and correct it." Then she got mad walked off then came back with the right order. I didn't even want to stay to see the movie after all that. But I had already paid for two tickets, food, drinks and $20 parking. Never again!!! I could have watched a movie at home and saved $100!!! Oh and did I mention the lobby and bathroom was dirty???...
