Genki Ya has perfected the ultimate takeout experience. They have an easy online ordering process through their website which also offers free menu items when you place an order over $30. After you order and pay through their website online, you go and pick up your order which they have laid out on a table at the front of their restaurant with your receipt. Genki Ya is as contact-less as can be! They also package up your order super well with really pretty and sturdy lime green bags (like gift bags) that is stapled at the top so you can be confident in your delivery as well if you choose to go the delivery route over pickup.
Genki Ya is a reasonably priced sushi restaurant. We ordered the Crazy Roll, Spicy Salmon Roll, Sunset Roll, Double Spicy Salmon Roll, Double Spicy Tuna Roll and after all that got a Spicy Tuna Roll for free! Each roll was packed up super well as you can see in my pictures and they were all beautiful. All our rolls generally just had tuna, salmon, and shrimp tempura. The quality of tuna and salmon was pretty decent. The shrimp tempura was nicely fried as well and not over battered with good-sized shrimp. I usually hate over-sauced rolls so it's odd for me to say this but I almost wish the Double Spicy Salmon Roll and Double Spicy Tuna Roll had a bit more spicy mayo for a little more umph and flavor. While we enjoyed all our rolls, we definitely had to dip them into soy sauce for some flavor. Spicy mayo, eel sauce... anything! We were yearning for some flavor especially since they are "specialty maki". But overall we liked our takeout experience with Genki Ya and would do it...
Read moreWorst experience Iâve had. The most petty place i have been to. Went to order take out and ordered the luxury roll with a couple of add ons that ended up totaling $.50 extra making the bill $20.82. I paid for the food and then when I saw the receipt on the take out bag I noticed that the online price of the sushi roll was $16.95 but they charged us $18.25 + the add ons. The original price was supposed to be $19.27 with the add ons and the tax of $1.82 making it about $2 more than I had seen on their website menu. I spoke with the Asian looking guy at the counter and informed him of the error. He told me âwell you paid for the food and saw the total so itâs your fault.â I told him that I had assumed I had been charged $2 for the add ons and I had used their online menu to look at the food before placing an order. He told me that it was not his problem. I said âso if I ask for a refund right now and place an order online I am going to pay $2 lessâ he said âwell you can do that but our menu says the price is $2 more.â He really argued with us over a $2 error that was not even our fault and was willing to lose the entire order over $2 and gaslit us into thinking we were the problem instead of rectifying the discrepancy on their OWN website and the paper menus they have. Thatâs just poor customer service and bad business. Literally overcharging you and making it seem like youâre giving them a problem. Iâm not one to argue over a small amount of money but when I go to point out a small error that could be a potential issue for other customers and they turn it around on you that becomes...
Read moreI came to this restaurant with my fiancé. We ordered a seaweed salad, miso soup, and a few sushi rolls. The miso soup was probably one of the best I've ever had - it was delicious. The seaweed salad was standard (one of my favorite foods). The rolls were good until the last one.
We ordered the triple torch roll, which said it contained torched tuna, yellowtail, salmon, and fish roe. When it came, it contained imitation crab. I have a severe shellfish allergy, and so I can't eat imitation crab. Although some imitation crab is shellfish-free, some use natural crab flavoring to flavor the imitation crab, so I can't eat any imitation crab just to be safe as per my doctor. When I told the waitress, she argued with me and said it was imitation crab so I could eat it. I told her I still can't eat imitation crab, and so she asked if we wanted some other roll instead. I requested the roll to just be removed from the bill instead and then we would just pay our check. She had to go ask the manager if that was allowed. That was ridiculous to me - there was no way I was paying for an almost $20 roll that I couldn't eat, when the menu didn't even say it had imitation crab in it. It wasn't a question as to whether that was okay or not. I'm being generous with the 3-star rating here, as this whole interaction...
