Update: i just got a call from Tim Haygood about this chair situation. He offered refunds. He offered new tickets, whatever would make it right. They take great pride in audience engagement, enthusiasm and enjoyment. Unfortunately, They don’t have control over this situation, but they are going to address the situation with the theater management. In short i am very happy this is being addressed. I am leaving this at 3 stars. Why? Because that will attract people to read this. Reading this will have customers understand how precious the audience is to the Haygood family. Thanks for the phone call, Tim. Much Mahalo. Mahalo nui loa. Much Aloha. Aloha nui loa. **3 stars, all due to discomfort of them miserable chairs in the balcony. These chairs are supposed to be VIP.?! I saw 3 other shows at Clay’s theater and sat in the lower theater seats. Those seats were comfortable. These balcony seats are just chairs, with padding. You are cramped in. When you brought to the seats, the chairs actually touch each other. As more people came, we slowly got pushed left. Now i was 15 and the guitarist cables from there. So i can’t move, because there is a red line to stop me for the guitarist’ safety. Pretty cool. But to stop rambling, a probably awesome show was ruined by a miserable chair. I should mention the forward and back space is very minimal. So my knees were cramping, my back was uncomfortable. The pad on the seat was poor and my butt was numbed. Show started and at 45min i had to get up and escape to the lobby. Then needless to say if the chairs touched side by side, then you absolutely are elbow to elbow the people next to you. The uncomfortable theater seating ruined what could have been a great show. So Clay’s theater show of; Clay’s show, the 60s show and the other show covering 50s music absolutely off the chart fantastic. I sat comfortably in the lower level seats. Clay’s Hagood show, 3 stars. Sad my experience went from off the charts awesome to...
Read moreLike many of the shows in Branson, this show embraces spectacle and absurdity over real musicality. The family members are all talented but not the great musicians they should be at this point in their careers.
The show focuses on short 'clip' versions of songs rolled into mash ups and medleys rather than exploring the full value of the covers they are producing. It is as if they know their audience knows only part of the melody or theme of each song so that is what they are going to play and sing. The show is made for the Dollar General crowd and not the stadium tour or symphony audience.
In comparison to the Petersens who have a similar back story minus the 'we grew up dirt poor' excuse, the Haygoods are amateurs. After 33 years, they should be at the top of their game like the Petersens have become in only half that time. The rule of thumb is you should be an expert with your instrument after 10,000 hours of practice. All of the Haygoods passed that mark on the stopwatch a long time ago.
This show is fun to watch but not worth $50 per ticket. It is close to $15 iMax ticket value due to the spectacle production value. LEDs and Lasers are always eye catching but cannot cover up for mediocre musicians.
As a side note, their drummer was spectacular. If I heard right, he has been with the show for 22 seasons. I do not know if that equates to 22 years or 11 years. There is no doubt he is a top notch artist. He may have had a click track in his ear, or he may just have a chronometer in his head. Either way, he set the groove perfectly and played all the elements of his drum set as if he...
Read moreWe’ve been traveling across America since April 23rd. There are 4 of us traveling in our RV’s headed back to Florida. We checked into our RV park on 8/2/2035 in Branson, MO. We perused all the local brochures so we could decide what we wanted to do.
We did the duck boat, rented a pontoon boat on Table Lake, went to see Reza the Illusionist, and on our last night in Branson we went to see The Haygoods. While we enjoyed all of our other activities, their show at Clay Cooper Theater, was by far the best thing we did.
We went to the show on Tuesday August 12, 2025, and we absolutely enjoyed the high energy technology driven program. They never stopped moving. Everything about this show was top touch.
Just as I was thinking this was my favorite, they did something else and that became my favorite. So,I reckon the whole show was my favorite.
I don’t want to give away too much information, because I wouldn’t want to spoil the show for any future theater goers. In closing, I want to point out the closeness of the Haygood family. Both Mom and Dad made an appearance, and if I heard correctly, she’s helping backstage.
I would be remiss if I didn’t give a shout-out to the volunteers. They helped us to our seats with a smile, they managed the concession stands and did gouge the customers, and even helped direct ladies to the open stalls in the restroom. I don’t know if the men’s room received this service.
Their show is suited for all ages. I highly recommend this show, and you will not be...
