This may be a lengthy review but I will try to keep it short. If you’ve never been, it is a MUST do, if in Branson. With that said, I had a very eerie and unexpected experience. Upon entering I had a very uneasy feeling and nearly backed out. The two ladies in the lobby were so sweet and helpful that I decided to go ahead with the tour. During my tour I continued to experience weird things like voices ( which I thought came from the device they give you) every time I held it to my ear I couldn’t hear anything. I didn’t give much thought to this at the time. I also experienced extreme emotions, bringing me to tears at times. A degree of this is expected, I would think, but it was so extreme that I would have to walk out of the room I was in. This didn’t happen in every room, only certain ones. While there I didn’t give much thought to what it was or could be. I just thought it was strange. I was so emotional when I exited the museum that I was unable to get in my vehicle and leave. Instead, I found a bench out front and sat for some time, to gather my thoughts and calm down. I arrived around 4:30 pm, so by the time I exited it was nearly 8:00 pm. I was alone most of the tour and while I was outside. I decided to head back to my hotel and upload my photos to fb. That is when I found the below photos ( the blurry ones). What is strange about these photos is the exposure because while inside the ship, while taking these exact photos. I held my phone out and took them so that I could make sure to get the shots I wanted and I wanted to make sure they turned out. They did… while inside the ship. However, when it came time to upload the photos were awful. I felt this was very odd and when I called my daughter later the next day. I made mention of this when telling her about my tour. That is when she informed me that she watched an episode of Ghost Adventures about this very museum. She was convinced that what I experienced was ghosts. This thought never crossed my mind until I watched the episode of ghost hunters yesterday and discovered the very rooms that I had the experiences in and took the photos in, are the rooms featured on the show! I am now a believer and can’t wait to go back so that I might pay more attention. I would return regardless… it’s worth every penny. The amount of relics, stories, and photos are so amazing!...
Read moreHonestly, I’ve driven past the Titanic Museum building with the big Titanic ship model ‘front’ on the Branson strip and at the Pigeon Forge strip multiple times over the years, and I believed what was inside would be a tourist trap full of cheesy displays. This year during our visit to Branson our family decided to go. I stepped in ready to experience the ‘cheese’, and what greeted me after the ticket area was a huge handmade to scale model of The Titanic. I love models, so this grabbed me at the get go. Maybe I’m a nerd for that sort of thing, but I could have spent an hour just there! I moved on, and started to view a real blueprint of the Titanic’s first class quarters and my nerd appreciation was captivated again! Then the area where there’s dining dish-ware and items from the ship was so fascinating.
The full size multi million dollar replica of the Grand Staircase was amazing. There was a full size replica of a third class cabin and first class suite also.
The memorial where each passenger and crew member are listed is sobering. A guy even played a real mini grand piano for us as we learned about the musicians who were aboard the ship to entertain passengers. Very fascinating!
This was a very professional and well executed museum experience. I was proved so wrong about this place. It is not a cheesy tourist trap, but rather a dignified, fascinating, factual and informative immersive experience about the world’s most famous ship. I came away feeling I’d learned something new, having a deeper appreciation for the history of it all, and most of all a sobering reminder that this is not a fantasy or a blockbuster movie story, but a real ship with real and everyday people of the time that had a tragic ending. These were real lives, like mine and my family’s - people with hopes and dreams of a new beginning or the joy of returning home. Families that were forever changed with horrific and tragic loss. There is an area inside with a bowl that is kept at 28 degrees - the temperature of the water in the Atlantic that night. You are invited to place your hand into the water to feel how cold it was. I imagined for the few seconds I could handle it what it must have felt like to be immersed in that water, but also terrified and traumatized - and it was a sobering moment for me. I...
Read moreThis place was so cool! I loved the history lesson that was involved. They start you out by giving everyone in your group a card that has a name and a story on it. Throughout the tour you are supposed to look for your person on you card to see their back story and at the end you find out if your person lived or died. The people that work there really go ALL OUT! They are dressed head to toe to things from that time and some even had accents. You are given a remote of sorts at the beginning and you use this through the entire tour. There are numbers listed on the walls in each section. You put that number into your remote and it tells you the story behind what you are looking at. I enjoyed that. I do like that the numbers were different for kids and adults so each age group could get the most out of it. I will say* do not go on a holiday. I messed up and went on Springbrook and it made it very hard to stop and read each item that I found interesting. There is some really cool stiff in this museum. Side note** no pictures allowed. I really found this to be a bummer.... once I side I couldn't take any pictures... I'm on vacation.. I understand why I suppose, but the museum changes out the artifacts each year to have repeat guests so what's it matter? At the end there is a huge wall of survivor stories, that was so cool. Plus there is huge huge built replica of the titanic as soon as you walk in. I would have loved to have a picture of that. They showed what the actual rooms looked like. Like they had life size rooms set up, it was very cool. The staircase that takes you to the second floor is beautiful!! Again... I would have loved to take a picture on that with my husband. They should change the policy to certain areas where you can photograph. Put signs on the wall that say photo ready or something. The museum is cool and worth the money. The gift shop at the end was cool too. I bought a necklace and a t-shirt there. Reasonably priced too. If you haven't done it, I highly recommend it. Just go when it's...
