This is a nice ship. I went here and was satisfied with my experience. This is a light cruiser and the only ship in the navy named after a group of people, the Sullivan brothers, who were brothers killed in combat during WWII. The below deck area of this ship was temporarily closed for maintenance when I was there, but the main and upper decks were open. The main deck has a couple of large guns, and you can go inside one of them to see how they were loaded. The upper deck of this ship has a bridge and a couple of machine guns attached to swivel seats, one of which you can sit on. I gave this ship five stars because it’s a well preserved ship and I found it really interesting to see how the inside of a large gun worked.

We had an awesome time on the U.S.S Sullivans, U.S.S Croaker and U.S.S Little Rock. We were welcomed onto the Sullivans by a cast of smiling faces, led by a brilliantly nice man named John. John went entirely out of his way to gift my son a 63-year-old, antique model ship, which we’ve been piecing together all evening. We considered leaving it in its sealed packaging due to its age and condition, but felt as though John would have wanted us to put it together. Thank you so much John and crew! This 7-year-old is ready to enlist after the experience you gave us this afternoon!

I took a few photos of the USS Sullivan, a WWII destroyer named for the five brothers who died together on a ship in 1942. We did not have opportunity to take the tour unfortunately. The ship had a storied life during World War II and came back for another war in Korea as well as other actions over the years before she became a living museum ship here in Buffalo.
