BEWARE! ANTI-MASK MANDATE AT BIG R STORES. I came in to buy crampons on the evening of 1/12/25 and went straight to the restroom to relieve myself before shopping. I was wearing a buff over my nose and mouth to protect myself and others as I have not yet been able to afford a Covid or Flu vaccine, this winter. I was followed and came out of the bathroom to a store manager insisting that I pull my mask down because the store has had a "large amount of theft" recently. I explained that was an issue because I needed to protect myself, for the reasons mentioned. They did not stand off, so I said if they could help me find crampons I could get out of there quicker. Funny enough, the store manager said "Tampons?!" (I guess I mumbled or she needed to read lips) and proceeded to interrupt me with laughter before I again said "Cramp-Ons", to which she replied she didn't know what those were...in a Colorado town accustomed to ice and snow, mind you. I got the feeling I was just being scapegoated/discriminated against because they can't maintain their merchandise security without sharing diseases or enforcing their fringe political beliefs on their property. I guess they are making america great again in their own minds...Big R has regretfully lost any future support from my business. That was heartbreaking.
EDIT 01/22/25: The 'owner' that is replying to reviews appears to be a company bot, as I have yet to receive any confirmation (or denial) that I can enter the Cañon City store with a mask, for my own protection. It seems, they respond about same to every negative complaint, no matter how serious. How despicable...
Read moreBig R Stores carry a vast variety of merchandise. From animal feed, for pets, birds of all kinds, domesticated animals, to specific items for farm and large animals. Tools of all kind, camping supplies, materials for various heat related items, lawn, tree and farming equipment, etc., including trailers. Snacks, trail and hiking items. Such variety that it is hard to name everything they have. Prices are reasonable. It's cheaper than tractor and trailer supply. Bulk items are in great supply. Other than Walmart, it is reasonably priced, and has things you can't find in other stores. We highly recommend it. We bought a 40 pound bag of farm animal feed which included fowl feed for turkey, chicken, ducks and geese, for $18. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, we found exactly what we needed. We highly recommend it. You cannot truly appreciate the store until you visit it. Of course other cities have Big R Stores as well. And they have an online store with menus. I wanted to add, that the store has vaccinations for pets, every third Sunday, 9-12 am. (including rabies shots) Please call Big R to make sure. Very reasonably priced and convenient, compared to a Veterinarian office. The Veterinarian is very professional, and you get tags and documents. They service dogs and cats, but I don't know what other pets....
Read moreHelpful, Friendly Staff. Clean, well lit store. Suki & Hoda have a fan club here, that remembers their names, and showers them with attention. They (Suki & Hoda) say "WOOF!" I cannot drive in the direction of Big R without my two girls recognizing where we are. Upon arrival they are bouncing around like I and my brother used to do when mom & dad took us to the swimming pool, when we were kids.
The girls are always eager to go inside, and I am eager as well. Big R is the only place that I don't have to push the shopping cart, as the girls are more than happy to pull it through the store. Sometimes, they move faster than I want to move, and that's saying something... My younger sister has made it perfectly clear that she knows no one as impatient as me.
This will become a best selling novel if I keep going, so I will close with. Big R is friggin DOG FRIENDLY! Thanks go out to owners and management for allowing four legged critters...
